Sorry, only just got around to trying this out, this morning.. Busy busy busy!!

Seems to be working nicely. Could possibly do with a sound/blip/display whenever your next bullet is ready to go, though, as the bullets seem to travel for a fair distance before being counted as "gone"

But, yeah, working nicely

Mmm, I could use a sprite or 3 in the window to indicate shots remaining perhaps.

Made some more progress tonight, with the boss, but for some reason, transitioning to level 5 from level4 results in hald the boss going missing...Hmmmm, more oddities.

I've asked if the lovely musician who composed the games music for the mobile versiob if they can send me anything (source / tracker/ anything) so I can attempt to convert it into something readable by my code. I doubt I can do anything to convert the MP3 files into something much, much smaller, I need the raw note data I think, and to downsample the channels probably.

Lets see how far down the rabbit hole I go eh? Feels like I'm pretty far down it already!

Also, a coule more fixes on transitioning back to the main menu afer game over-ing.

I'll upload the ROM again once it's substantially different me thinks.

Feeling like I'm running out of steam a bit for the project, not sure why, but I'm feeling stagnant again.

This happens from time to time and it's frustrating as all hell when it happens, any advice?

Here's the updated version of They Are Everywhere for Gameboy, I've added more lives to this one ;P

They Are Everywhere GB.zip

Maybe I need to step back and plan things out a bit.

Got some coding mojo back again now, which is, frankly, a relief!

Not gonna give up!

Here's hoping! Going to work on the firing routines for Boss #1 and maybe add some splosions tonight. Doesn't look like the guy I hired to make the music is going to get back to me which means I'm going to have to either

a) find another composer

or

b) make something myself

Either way I've got a different idea as to how to import the music structures into the gameboy, hopefully , it'll result in a smaller array, and have nicer start + looping support.

Boss 1 is now looking a lot more formidable!

Now onto the next ROM bank and converting sprites over...Orrr, I could make those asteroids a bit nastier, heh heh heh!

Also, I sent the PC build to a friend who works at the local game store, looks like I'll be able to set-up a demo for a day over there, should be fun!

Would it not be cheaper buying a 386 and using that

Ahh, I miss my 386 lappy...and my 286 desktop machine, I had some really odd Qbasic stuff I made as a teenager on those machines

Might still have it hanging around on a hard drive somewhere even.

But yeah, 2.99 from amazon and a security bit to open the carts up for about the same price.

I dread to know how much it's all totaling up to!

Mmm, the smell of burnt chips

So, I got the Willem hooked up to what is now my dedicated chip burner laptop and burnt my first chip today, one of my PCs had parallel ports on them and the USB to parallel doobrie didn't work, so I grabbed an old XP Laptop with a parrallel port for free from the local puter shop, they have loads that were just taking up space there so, that was handy!

Also found out that they're doing a computer club every Monday after hours so. I'll be learning some soldering over there which'll be fun!

Slowly getting there on both hardware and coding fronts, but, getting there! The next set of levels are coming along and I'll be very happy once they're sorted out!

Mmmm, burnt chips
