 		I don't really know much about action cams. As you can probably guess, I'm not exactly all about the action!
Unless you want 2.5 minute "Epic Treadmill Action!" or "Jay Walks Around the Street!" then it's probably not the sort of thing for me.

I do know that OtakuPunk uses a GoPro to do his annual Xmas Advent Calendar vids, so he can hold the whiskey and shot glass without also having to hold the camera!
But whether it holds up any longer than the 5/10 mins that they take. No idea.

 		i've only have experience with the the gopro3 and yes i did have issues with it freezing once or twice while it was in flight. my biggest issues was that it wouldn't do 4k, wouldn't record in that rez, and now it doesn't record in 1080 (it starts, records for 3 secs and then stops).

from what i can see one of the big differences is that the nikon has a lcd on the back, so you get a live view, with the gopro3 (and looks like the same for the 4) you can only get a live view with a lcd add on, or an app, and the nikon is already "waterproof" with out having to buy any extra housing.
but with the gorpo there are tons of accessories, but it looks the nikon has a standard screw mount size so any regular camera stuff should work with it

sorry i can't be much help but the nikon dose looks interesting and is newer then the gopro4
