Goodbye Immanitas!

As you know I've had nothing but trouble with Immanitas Entertainment. Every single quarter I have to:

1. Ask them to send me the quarterly report (they should do this automatically but they never, ever have. Not once).
2. Invoice them for the amount on the report.
3. Wait 15 working days (three weeks) for them to not pay. I've often waited six to eight weeks.
4. Email them again, only to receive a reply that either:
4a. We've paid, we don't know why you haven't received it (this has happened for the last two quarters in a row).
4b. We made payment yesterday, you should receive it soon (and hey presto, it arrives the next day).

Now, this may seem trivial. Bear in mind that the quarterly figures are hovering somewhere in the low triples. If we were taking a few grand every quarter I could probably tolerate the ineptitude I've had to deal with. But for the amount I get, all this aggravation every single fucking quarter, to the point where they're now saying they've sent payment already but "we'll send it again anyway", i.e. implying that I'm lying about it.... no. I'm not having it.

Anywho... finally the day has come that I can end this charade once and for all. I've just served notice of termination and as soon as that comes back countersigned I am going to frame the fucker and put it on my wall, as a reminder that if I have a hunch that I shouldn't sign a deal with a publisher I haven't heard of, and can find nobody else with experience of them, DO NOT SIGN THE FUCKING THING.

I've raised the termination issue before with their CEO, citing breach of contract but he claims "no, because we put the error right". But every quarter they're making the same fucking error and they're NOT putting that right. It goes on and on and on.

End of the day.... they've currently paid everything they owe, and that's OK. But developers shouldn't have to through this ridiculous pantomime every damn quarter to get what they're owed. I don't have to piss about with iWin or RealNetworks or BigFish or WildTangent, so I dunno why Immanitas have chosen to make things so difficult.

Just waiting now for them to come up with some excuse as to why I can't end the contract in March. Nothing else has been straightforward with them so I'm not expecting this to be, either.

Sounds a lot like Extent, but they rarely respond back to emails.

Also currently having issues with a German portal, which is suprising as we have never had issues with them in the past

There are some really good portals out there, but some really rotten ones too!

Got stung by my first ever publisher back in the early 1990s and that dragged on for years, so it's amazing that I'm still bothering. But yeah they aren't all like that.

I think it's much more likely to happen when we're dealing with relatively small amounts and between continents. The amounts involved are nothing compared to the cost in pursuing it through legal means. I dunno where morality went with some of them.

Almost a month on, chased up twice, still no signed document. Although, I do have a written response that they've received the document, so that'll do for me.

I'll be watching closely to make sure my games disappear from all the places they should not be, and will not be dealing with these people ever again. They're the most half-assed, ignorant shower of shit I've dealt with in 24 years of games publishing.

....aaaand, I'm out! \o/

Took them three weeks to actually sign the termination notice, and another FIVE weeks to bother to send it back.

Well, at least you’re out.
Congrats!
