Halfords part 2

So they swapped my rear wheel last year under warranty.

I came to take the freehub off tonight.. and the Freehub fixing bolt is completely seized - 2ft scaffold bar on the end of an 11mm allen key... not budging at all..

I bet there wasn't any grease or anti-seize compound used when fitting the freehub... that's gonna cost 60 quid...

(I have had to replace my crank arms because one of the pedals seized too.. and of course the bottom bracket which they mauled..)

Sounds like you're gonna need an impact driver to get that off.

See... I know nowt about cars... I just sit in them, and drive them... Probably badly as well!

I'm one of them that if I went to look at a car to buy second hand, the seller would pop the bonnet, and I'd peer in... I know the usual liquids stuff and that, but generally, I have a spy at the engine, move about to look at it at different angles with a investigative look about my chops... But inside I'm thinking "Not a single clue me"

So I'm the person that just has to take stuff as described by the mechanic, though, my local garage takes the piss so I never use them, I've used Halfords a few times with Alan the landrover and they've been spot on, they are more expensive but they are close enough to go, drop car off, get bus back if noone can give me a lift to/from. My fave garage is located in a place called Towlaw, its one of them places thats a knacker, its only 8 miles or something if you go the way the crow flies, but getting there by public transport, yowza... Your in for a shift and a half! So I only use them when I can cadge a lift, but everytime I've been, they've been excellent, they'll say something like "The sprocket on your front driver side wigglewam looks a bit worn, should see the MOT out, but, its not major, and when you get it done, it shouldnt cost more then £60", whereas, the local garage would go "[sucks teeth]The sprocket on your front driver side wigglewam is shot to bits mate, and the fratterfurt just behind it has completely perished, so we replaced them for you, did it cheap like, £90"

And I'm one of them that would be like "Ah right mate, champion, thanks for that!"

Like I said, Halfords have been fine for me, never been unreasonable I dont think, it goes in, work gets done, I pay... Local garage, I know nowt about cars, but, I know when someone is taking the micky... Its just so much of a shame I cannot get to Ridleys easily, cos, I would just use them all the time, and I have actually drummed loads of work their way and everyone is happy with them!

Being the son of a mechanic I had no choice, mechanical learning was shovelled into my nut from an early age. There were also loads of other mechanics in my area and I was very curious, hence why I'm how I am now.
