How long should you grieve?

This was a discussion in a Christian group. How long should one grieve?

There was one radio DJ, who lost his wife in a tragic car accident. He remarried a few months after she died.

Michael Sweet (of Stryper) lost his wife after a 2 year battle with cancer. He remarried after 9 months and took a massive amount of flak from the Christian community for not waiting long enough.

One thing Covid has done is reinforce that life is SHORT. Loneliness is incredibly difficult, especially after losing a partner. We are not meant to go through life alone.

So what is long enough? What is too short? If a special somebody is brought into your life are you supposed to ignore them and lose a chance of happiness because of a societal imposed waiting period?

Curious as to the thoughts here?

It's different for everyone, you take as much time as you need

If you meet someone else special and there is a chance of happiness you need to go for it, but you need to let that someone know what is happening so they go into it with all the details too.

I agree with TRG. A person's grief and happiness is a personal thing.

Anybody (Christian or not) that denies someone else's happiness can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned.
