Question of the Day : September 20th
What's been your hardest goodbye in life so far?

It was my wife, but losing Carolyn was trumped by having to put to sleep six of our seven cats. The cats are what has me crying myself to sleep most nights, at times during the day like now when I am thinking about them and dwell on it too long. A huge part of me died that day, and it is a part that will never be reborn. Feel like a hollow, walking dead man at times.

What causes the most pain for me, is hoping and praying my cats forgive me and understand. Obviously an unanswerable question, hence the torment I now find myself living in.

Losing one furball at a time is hard enough.

Your inner torment will be dispelled once you meet again over that Rainbow Bridge.

Take care.

Which part of the rollercoaster do you usually ride: the front, middle, back or any seat that isn't on the rollercoaster?

I ride in any seat that's available! I suppose you don't get people's heads in your view if you sit at the front, but none are really any better or worse than any other.

The most extreme rides that I could handle at Blackpool are the trams.

I used to be a fan of Skiing thanks mainly to the theme tune in Ski Sunday way back when, so, probably skiing. Although I've not watched the Olympics in many, many years.

Question of the Day : September 27th

What law would you like to make that every person should strictly follow?
Tue, 27 Sep 2022, 01:55
rockford
Every cyclist and e-scooter rider should have a target on their back. Use at your leisure...

All drivers not using indicators (correctly) in their cars should have them crushed.

The government should be forced to live the life of an ordinary folk for a month. No access to riches or private industry/healhcare/transport.

|edit| The BBC has put out a story that reinforces the need for my first law change request - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-sussex-63041115

Everyone should instinctively try hitting buttons on the controller to see what happens, instead of having to be told to "Press the B button to throw the ball"

While I can't think of any law for everyone to strictly follow, I guess the follow up would be:

What would be the punishment for breaking said law would you dish out?

The controller gets taken off you, and you get a slap on the wrist for not having an ounce of experimentation in your body.

Those in power judged on the same law as everyone else, and held accountable, rather than given a free pass.

Which, ironically, wouldn't be a law for everyone, but only a law for those in power.

.. but probably Marbles. A simple thing, but I seem to have a lot of memories of playing marbles Vs friends in my childhood.

Marbles was quite a thing for me, especially in early junior school days when the fad really kicked off. Cats eyes, then the desirable whites, steelies and larger sizes. And there was that kid who's dad had access to ball bearings of any size ... 100 hits to win the big ones (I never did).

Action man was also a big thing too. Guns, grenades, nets, army gear , backpacks and some vehicles. Great for playing out in the grass and mud with your mates.

But think lego is also the one for me. Basic 70s lego first (I remember collecting cereal tokens for a basic lego house with trees) and the revelation when space lego with minifigures arrived was the turning point.

Yeah, I had the basic Lego sets first, then a few small space sets, then a battery operated train set, but Lego Technic blew my mind when it first came out and was highly sought after by me until I grew out of Lego at around 12/13. Got back into it when my wife bought me a Star Wars Lego set about 10 years ago. I've been hooked on it every since, especially SW.

I had a large proper metal Meccano army set too - that was really neat, but there was never enough to build more than a couple of vehicles, so I got bored of it pretty quickly and never asked for more. That stuff is worth a fortune now.

I desperately wanted an Action Man one year, as my mates all had them; I got a truck, APC and Eagle Eyes talking commander for Xmas. And... I never really touched it. I loved having them, but never played with them. Sorry Mum & Dad.

I had Mecanno. Loads of it. Made up a few of the larger things, but found the sets to be much more functional as "handy bits of metal"..
Bedroom door handle, lock enhancer, little stand to put magazines on whilst doing type-ins, had a multitude of uses.
Never underestimate when you can do with a couple of random bits of metal!!

Ah mecanno. Yea, I also never had enough to build anything of substance, but that was fun.

Going right back, when there was still ½p coins, match box cars were huge in my neighbourhood due to the local newsagents stocking them at pocket money prices. The mastertronic of toys
