Happy 18th!

If I wasn't completely drained from all the kerfuffle currently ongoing in the bungalow, I'd've definitely done something for today.
Sorry, all

From this morning's AGameAWeek's blog post

18 years ago, CodersWorkshop unceremoniously got stripped away without warning, and I scrambled to put together a "temporary" forum to keep things going in the meantime.
18 years on, and the site's still up and running, which I guess is a testament to just how sturdy I tried to make it in the first place.
It's got a complete and total rewrite back in 2017, where I finally took the time to neaten up all my gnatty code, and upgraded the SQL code to work a little better, but the database is 100% exactly how it was.
It even has leftover spaces for MSN/AIM/ICQ/YahooChat and GoogleChat! .. Not even Google+!!

So many old bits and pieces. Leftovers from almost 2 decades of old bits of data shoved into a database that's never been cleared out.
But, hey, at least it's still going!
And though 99% of the users are no longer active on the site, it's still a cosy home from home to all, and they're welcome to return at any point. Except one or two bad-actors over the years. .. There's always one.

Last year I had plans to integrate JSE into SoCoder a little more, so that users could register on SoCoder, then use that login on JSE, so it'd cloud-save all your code.
I never got around to that, as a giant upheaval happened at home. Maybe this year I should do that.
Sure would've been nice to have had that done for today, but .. Hey, ho...

Oh well. Keep going, SoCoder.
I can't imagine it'll still be in the same form in the future, though. I mean, it was already old looking when I launched it!
Maybe it's time for an upheaval of its own.
What form could that be, though?
How do you do a modern re-interpretation of a classic Forum?

I asked Leonardo.ai to imagine what a futuristic forum might look like.
Prompt : A futuristic computer forum website from the year 2035

I think it's just fine the way it is Happy Boithday!

I'm biased , but there's something cool about having it look this way and not overly modern.
