With all the AGameAWeek website coding done, I've spent most of this week fiddling about with all manner of geeky website stats and things, trying to figure out what's better and worse for the server.
I've also been playing Anti-Spam-Bot, as obviously my self-coded Comments section has pretty much opened the floodgates!
A few simple blanket bot-rules later, and I've gone from roughly 20-a-day down to 2, but I'm sure I can do better..
Maybe I should code myself a spambot detector bot robot bot of my own?! But then I'd risk having oodles of real comments wrongly deleted, and would only have myself to blame.

.. And my bot. But the bot wouldn't admit to having done anything wrong, whilst my guilty conscious wouldn't let me sleep at night.

Nope, best to do these things by hand.

So, anyway, a lot of evil robot things have been killed off by the .htaccess, and more are being purged by various script based elements.
It's all running rather effortlessly, and I'm happy that the site's still up and running with only the odd '503-error' quirk causing us any issues.

Over the coming weeks, with the MOUNTAINS of stats that I now have, I'm hoping to trim that down to practically 0 issues.
