Hello World

The newsletter's been advancing in short sweet steps, but what else can be done?
Email or Comment with your ideas.

Adsense..
Last week I said "To hell with the adverts"
This week I remembered to upload the change!
     d'oh!

Currently Listening To..
The entire contents of the Hard Drive on Shuffle. Seems to be a lot of Pulp here!

In the Workshop..
     ... d'oh...

In the Shoutbox..
Underlined, Dreams, Cats and Rushed Deadlines.

In the Mudchat..
     Trees
     Volume
     Friends
     18 Words
     Phones
     and South Park

QOTW

What's the most amount of money you've spent on something that turned out to be rubbish?

The Razer Diamondback mouse. It's the biggest piece of garbage this side of the Deimos.

Dare I say it? ...the Wii?

WiiZapper

A second hand iMac, one of those colourful ones.

     Moral of the week..
     Modern Videogames suck.
Looks like we need more RetroPolls!!!

Head on over to anonymously tell us what the most embarrassing thing you ever did was...

Read Post$

Shutter Island

Phoenix saw a movie this week, and wants to know everyone's opinion. Apparently, nobody else saw it!
socoder.net/?topic=1955

Spinning images in a Browser

Mindstorm's considering making a game using pure HMTL and Javascript. Should be interesting to see the results.
socoder.net/?topic=1956

Game Maker Games

Are GameMaker games allowed on Socoder? So long as it doesn't have the dumbass yellow-smiley logo from earlier on in the year, sure!
socoder.net/?topic=1957

Goto Links

Tagxedo (Jayenkai)

A nice little website that takes a URL and produces a Tagcloud. Except that, rather than being a dull plain box, you can make lovely pretty pictures with the tags.
socoder.net/?link=22740

CPC Scene (Steve Ancell)

Steve's getting into the spirit of our RetroPolls, and points us to a nice new website all about making cool things for the Amstrad CPC. woot!
socoder.net/?link=22742

Censorship (HoboBen)

Google tells us how many times they've been asked to get rid of something, and lists it all by country. Makes for interesting viewing.
socoder.net/?link=22755

Shrinkage (HoboBen)

It's amazing what a little tidying up can do.
socoder.net/?link=22756

The Legend of Zelda (Afr0)

Awesome video, and still looks great 2 years later. Watch it, even if it IS old.

Socoder Games

JNKPlat 2010 (Jayenkai)

Platdude's been around for about 12 years, and his main game's hardly changed at all. Play it again, folks!
     This year I've added teleporters.
socoder.net/?showcase=22753

Moshboy's "Missed" Games

Slumlord/Moshboy's seems to be finishing off his downloadable selection.
     He's now doing Browser games.
Do we want to do Browser games?
     Let me know..

#39 - A to B Basset

A nice puzzle game, where you need to carry a cute little dog around, to complete each level.
Eat all the ice creams, then carry the box to the button so that the door opens for the dog.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTFj3HN9KB4

#40 - RetroBattle

A nice little BubbleBobble styled single screen platformer.
Collect all the coins while avoiding all the bad guys. The actions quite slow, but not in a bad way.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_yZ9muDGH8

Pixel Prospector's Games

Kaizen continues to find all the unfindable games, as long as they're awesome.

Adventure Apes

A sweet little monkey based platformer. Nice audio, great graphics, nothing to complain about!
The game's still a couple of months off completion, but the work so far looks great. Can't wait!
bit.ly/PPGames_Apes

Project Dread

A Metroid clone done in a GBA style, with plenty of fast action, and lots of Gore!
If you want blood with your Samus, this is the place to get it!
bit.ly/PPGames_Dread

Curly Games!

Pater Alf's been on an Adventure Game Spree, this week, picking out a couple of games made using the AGS engine.

Saw Deluxe

If you're a fan of the Saw movies, you'll probably like this!
Can you escape from the bathroom!?
bit.ly/CWF_Saw

The McCarthy Chronicles

Another AGS game, done in black and white to add a little extra atmosphere.
Won a batch of awards, too! Ooooh!
bit.ly/CWF_TMC

The Empty Bit

     What.. No Cower!?
Hmm.. Gonna have to pad things out a bit, now!

Things are Expensive (Mog)

Mog needs a simple connector, but as is the norm, connectors that use very few parts are often the most expensive things you can buy.
