Enigma: Futuristic Space Warfare

7th April 2009

Hey guys, this is a game I was introduced to several years ago and have always enjoyed as a casual game. Unfortunately, the number of active players has dropped kind of low, so we're trying to recruit new players. Its quite fun, isn't time consuming, and*snip*

I envy future generations. They get to grow up with cooler stuff than I did.

I actually asked a calculus teacher this a few years ago. He told me that the answer actually depends on the context. Can't remember the specifics though.

For the Visitors

I like the new style for the showcases. My only suggestion would be for the links on the right, have some kind of color background grouping them also instead of having them on the solid white background

QOTD : Longest?

Doom Duel. Been planning it for several years now while looking for the right tools to use and then learning how to use those tools.
Finished it? heck no, haven't even really started it, but I was hoping to get a good start on it during spring break in *snip*

Finding an old piece Blitz3d of sample code

26th February 2009

I found it! JL235, you were right, it was on bb.com. Thank goodness for archives, because I was not looking forward to having to wait for bb.com to recover just to find this. It also didn't help that the word "cube" wasn't in the title or description, b*snip*

Finding an old piece Blitz3d of sample code

25th February 2009

No, I'm 99% positive that I didn't get it from there (although I will give it a look later to make sure). I remember I used to have a folder dedicated for everything that I downloaded for blitz, and I remember it being in there. It seems like I got the c*snip*

Finding an old piece Blitz3d of sample code

25th February 2009

Long ago I found a neat piece of sample code for blitz3d that I don't have any more and I can't seem to find it online. Basically, it created a grid of colored cubes based on integer data, and then spun the whole grid around the y axis with varying speeds*snip*

WM018 - Do It!

Looks good, just one thing. There probably should be a flip up counter on the left side so it is possible for someone to get behind the counter.

For the Visitors

29th January 2009

I like Jay's idea of a less intimidating interface for visitors. I also think more people need to do more stuff for WW, but how to encourage people to do that is a problem. But nonetheless, I for one am going to try and do this weeks WW.

News and shit..

26th April 2008

I knew this topic might go sour, and I'm probably not helping but: an interesting thing about this site is the chat, if you aren't on it, you miss a lot of what is being talked about here. I've been on it frequently over the past couple weeks. I've seen *snip*

loadmesh vs copyentity

Thats one, another is that copyentity creates a new instance of the mesh, not a new mesh. This means that the geoemtry data is only stored once in memory and all instances point to it.

Devmaster is pretty much the best place to read user reviews for virtually any engine. I highly recommend you read them for FPS Creator before buying because these reflect alot of what I've seen on other sites. Then, compare the feature list a*snip*

Irrlicht Engine

In a word, I would say yes, but it really depends on the artwork used more than anything, but in general it supports more modern features like shadows and scene management, so it has the potential for better graphics and performance than Blitz3D. The best*snip*

Would you use Havok?

21st February 2008

Steve, Havok is a physics engine just like Newton, PhysX, and Tokamak. It might have some editor capabilities also, but it is a library you can integrate with your code. Anyways, lots of AAA games are using it. The Halo series uses it for all of its phy*snip*

Would you use Havok?

21st February 2008

I'm seriously considering it. Right now I'm leaning towards PhysX, but with NVidia aquiring them, I'm not so sure now. The primary reason I'm considering Havok is the newly announced Destruction capabilities, but they aren't part of the core sdk, so I'm *snip*
