It does seem noticeably faster too!

Time to Move?

This used to be an issue with the Linux ext3 file system - after 1000 files in a directory it got pretty slow.

Sounds like they're using a modern file system like ext4 so the only limit is 32,000 files if you want to list them easily. And even then<snip>

They seem fairly new so there's not much in the way of reviews.

That could be a good thing (small company, good service, not oversold, recent investment in hardware) or a bad thing (lack of experience, risky future)

It's another annoying step<snip>

You have to do a lot more manually, but a VPS maybe?

I've been with linode (London) for god knows how many years and they're fantastic and they have smaller plans now (I might have a coupon if you want me to check)

Their smallest plan is thre<snip>

Look at that graph!!!

https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/news/announcements/132642-epic-services-stability-update

It's servers, databases, virtual machines, etc. that are really taking the hit.

Intellibugs

People's desktops at home, the slowdown isn't going to be noticeable in typical workloads. So that's the good news.

Virtual machine servers hosting websites though? They're the worst case for this and we'll see them get hit bad

Welsh whiskey :o I've never had a single malt before! It's so nice! It's pale like Irish whiskey which I really like compared to the peaty Scottish flavour ones.

Have a lovely day everyone xx

You might not think to do it this way, but the supermarkets like Tesco do things like customised mugs and calendars on their online stores and they're not bad at all.

Probably more expensive in bulk compared to companies that specialise in it, I don<snip>

I was literally thinking about SoCoder needing this the other day, too!

It's cheating, but cronjobs are so annoying to write I just have one that runs every single minute.

That's just one job, that checks to see if there are any *actual* jobs that need doing as that user.

Decaffeinating

It used to be just one strong cup in the morning for me but it obviously didn't agree with me.

The other helpful thing is now that I can't rely on coffee in the morning I have to make sure I'm not tired another way - by getting enough sleep!<snip>

Command Prompt Here

I know right! You can shift right click the folder you are in to do it, but ONLY if there aren't enough files to fill the window so that there is space to do it in. Typing CMD is gonna be way easier so thanks haha

Command Prompt Here

IIRC you can Shift+Right Click a folder to get more options (like "open command window here") from Windows 7. Everyone probably knows that one though!

AGAWFrame

Some OpenGL tips that might be helpful.

1. Textures

The huge texture thing is a super common optimisation. OpenGL will take 8192x8192 textures with no sweat, and prefers it to switching between textures (which is SLOW!!!). I doubt there's a machi<snip>
