I haven't had a good look yet, but some noteworthy things I've heard about; much improved lighting/lightmap baking (this was horrendous in unity 5), an awesome cinematic timeline editor, and signed distance field fonts via native integration of textmeshpro (basically, a font can be scaled as big as you like and it won't lose definition or go pixelated).

The latter is apparently coming in unity 5.6 too.

Apparently they have broken something... a mate at work cant get his current project to build for some reason after updating.

He also says the Unity dev team does do that quite often, they want to release new features quickly but they break stuff... have you found that?

The only thing that's ever broken after an update is middleware I got from the unity store that hadn't been updated yet.

That said I can't even begin to imagine the complexities of Unity's underlying code so I suppose the odd fuck-up is inevitable.

This might be reduced though, now that Unity 5 is in pallative care and they've only Unity 2017 to focus on.
