OK look... I'm no Nintendo fan, but although it's only January this is the stupidest thing I've seen all year.

Nintendo do not seem to have any sense of direction - they just lurch aimlessly from one thing to another. Look at their history - they've tried all sorts of businesses over the years, from food retail to brothels to video games, and now silly bits of cardboard.

Will this succeed? Probably, because people are stupid and they'll pay money for any old shit. Does it give Nintendo any more credibility with me? No.

It's a "Builder" kit. It's meant for kids to play with, and honestly if I could build a piano out of cardboard, as a kid, that would have TOTALLY intrigued me!

This is like BluePeter builds, but with a Switch in the middle, and exciting adventures to come.

Nintendo being Nintendo... you would not get this from Sony or M$!

I think it's a fab idea.

Ever since I was a kid I've built things out of wood, paper, plastic and metal. And I still do. I think kids will love this and parents will love "helping."

I can see this being a big hit. Bravo Nintendo. Bravo.

BTW Jay - the YouTube code doesn't work from the Shoutbox, but I guess you know that already.

I think I may have to buy a nintendo switch now. That's pretty much made it more than just another system for me, which means it probably will be for the kids also.

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

I think it looks very interesting, I'd even be tempted to try some of those things out myself. Although I think I have enough crap lying about the house not getting played with.

We've all got loads of crap/games laying around, unplayed with. Doesn't generally stop us getting more though!

Should have made it much cheaper, have the software as download for free, charge less for the cardboard boxes, everyone would be happy.

See, I completely berated the whole concept without even looking at the price.

*looks at cost*

Fuck a duck..... :/

I don't think the price hurts it. As long as they market it well enough, it'll be a stepping stone into an interesting era in gaming & making.

The price does initially seem excessive, but it will depend greatly on the software and what you get out of the package as a whole. Remember, it isn't just the cardboard.

If the games are more than gimmicks, that kids will play once and forget about, then it may well be very worth it. This is a package that can help kids understand the basic concepts of engineering, following instructions, art & customisation as well as interaction - both with parents/siblings and the software. I've seen kids/adult movie/game/action hero figures priced at more than the suggested $70/$80 suggested that don't actually do anything.
