rockford	Question for ya: I've just bought a new HP Pavilion laptop. Using Firefox (as I always have) some sites load instantly. Some won't load at all. Even clicking from my bookmark menu won't bring up some major sites (BBC, soCoder), but will bring up YouTube and Facebook. It's weird. Ideas?

rockford	Forgot to add that most can be accessed directly and quickly from Google, eg SoCoder, but not all eg. IGN and NintendoLife. Bizarre

Jayenkai	I'm currently having Twitter issues. Visiting mobile.twitter.com comes up instantly, but actual twitter.com takes about 2 minutes to load, and .. I honestly don't know why that is. Baffling. But I will suggest a hard drive stress test. Not sure what proggies there are for that, but I'd suggest it's trying to get at the cached versions of the pages, and that the cache access might be struggling. Everyone kept telling me "Get a SSD", but I was adamant that I didn't need one. ... Since switching, I can definitely tell the difference. Write-Limits be damned.. It's the fact that Windows is a fucking HD whore, and wants to constantly access 700,000 bits of data all over the mechanical harddrive, all at the same time. That's what causes everything to slowdown.. Not the "speed", more the accessibility of the data. -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

rockford	I believe my issue to be down to BT. It's fecking strange, but by looking on the net a farely common thing. Stuff works fine on my old lappy - except the lappy turns everything a brilliant shade of fluorescent pink (monitor cable/panel as HDMI out is fine). A world without the internet would be so alien and wrong nowadays - even if just for a few minutes! Shudder. Three hours? I feel for you!

Dabz	Nothing worse then wonky internet... Happened to me a few months ago, you could tell the net was iffy, and when I did a speed test the needle on the test looked like a pressure gauge that was going mental. It all quietened down and went steady... So, dunno what was wrong there! :/ Technology, modern technology, really, its amazing but shit at the same time! spinal	I sometimes have difficulty with my network connection. As does Helen. She can get away with simply closing and reopening her browser. I however usually need to disconnect from the wifi and reconnect again. On a good day though, we have 13-16 different wifi networks competing for attention in our flat. It's so much a problem that it can cause our bluetooth sub woofer to drop out. Lesson - Go back to wired connections and stay like that. Our next house is going to get miles of Ethernet cables installed I can tell you. -=-=- Check out my excellent homepage!

rockford	@Spinal - You don't need miles of ethernet cable - just get a powerline adapter (and a short piece of cable!). They work brilliantly. My son uses one upstairs on his XBox One linked to the router downstairs. The XBox One wifi is shite to say the least, so he can play seemlessley online without any problems. Definitely recommended.
