Worst site glitch I have ever seen...

I decided to try ordering some things from SHEIN. Spent hours sifting through the tshirts, bookmarked in my browser the ones I liked along with some office supplies. Some of the shirts were on a time limited deal really cheap, even cheaper than what they normally are.

Well, after I had a good bit picked out, I created an account and then went through my bookmarks and went to that page and as I added one to my cart I deleted my bookmark. Got everything in my cart, applied my first time customer code that gives me 15% off along with free shipping and gave me over $34 off and brought the total to $193 and some change. Clicked on the pay with PayPal button and PayPal did NOT load, but a notice popped up that my cart was empty.

Ole' Kuron thinks WTF? Checks and indeed the cart is empty. Given that I deleted the bookmark for each item as I put it in the cart, I could not put the items back, not without spending hours sifting through all of the shirts to refind the items, also the ones that were on sale, the sale would have expired as it only had 30 minutes left. So, Ole' Kuron gave up and said fuck it and will never try to order from there again.

Bad business model, where a customer clicks on pay and their cart empties.

Ahhh, yes, that issue. It's related to browsers changing their cross-domain cookie policies from around 3-4 years ago, then the inconsistancies between them all. I think SHEINS one is a bit different to ours but it is related to different browsers treating cookie settings inconsistantly, which, as a web dev, is a bitch to debug as there's no reliable way to do it, what with cookies holding the session ID and some payment gateways not returning data back sothe session can be restarted post checkout.

It's thankfully quite rare nowadays but, if you're running Safari or OSX 12.XX or certain versions of iOS, it affects that sub-section of browsers, we get payment issues about once or twice a month with regards to it which sucks :/

Yeah, even GoDaddy was impacted by Apple's oddness for a while, there. Couldn't even log in without it bringing up a "Your browser is behaving unusually" error!
In general, I typically tend to think about the poor web-dev whose job it is to keep all of this running, pulling his hair out, whilst the higher-ups sit around drinking coffee, lazily chatting, and raking in all the cash.

It's rarely ever the site's fault.

I remember it occurring just after lockdowns started and work decided I had to work from home, it was very much a "HOW IT THE HELL DO I FIX THIS!!!" affair, not having a Mac to test on and, well, it was very frustrating, esp with everything else going on at the time.

Yeah, the whole Ecosystem thing is such a pain in the arse, some times.
I mean, I only got an iPod Touch for Xmas one year, to play Angry Birds.
Then it was "How can I code for it", followed by buying a Mac Mini, then an iPad "for dev-testing", then an iPhone, then mum an iPad, and omg the slippery slope!!!!

But that requirement to own everything in order to test one little thing.. That's a fucker..

Yeah, that apple Ecosystem is one that I'm not too much of a fan of, esp when it comes to repairability, ditto that for chromebooks and "the cloud"
