No Man's Sky on ROGAlly - SteamOS - Default settings

No Man's Sky on Switch 2 - Default settings

Now, to be fair, because I haven't connected the ROGAlly to a 4k display, yet, I haven't been able to bump up the gfx to full, nor have I tweaked the antialiasing and whatnot.
But this is the Switch in handheld mode, so.. um...

Not my type of game, but the graphics on the ROGAlly look kick ass. The graphics on the Switch look Nintendoized.

And genuinely do not mean that as an insult, historically other than the original Playstation, my consoles of choice since the NES have always been Nintendo's offerings.

Yeah, the Switch 2 does look significantly better in those screenshots

I can't find a nice charging dock for pro controllers, they're all ugly or awkward looking.

Where's the port? Top or bottom?
Would something akin to this be useable?

Mario kart online is worse than a bullet hell game, at least with those, skill comes into play. With MK it's just dumb chance if you finish near the front of the pack.

I know it's not possible but how the hell is everyone else not finishing last place all of the time. This game is rigged!

We picked up now NS2 yesterday, really easy to set up and Mario Kart World looks fantastic!

Signed up for the Nintendo online with expansion thingy downloaded all the emulator stuff and the Zelda switch 2 upgrade but haven't played it yet.

Also bought the pro controller 2, feels very nice.

The pro controller is oddly much nicer than the previous version, but they haven't changed much at all. I like the soft coating, but I do hope that it doesn't do that sticky thing that similar coating do after a while.

I haven't bought a pro controller for either this or the original Switch. As someone who plays exclusively in Handheld mode, it didn't seem worthwhile.
I did, however, end up buying an 8bitdo controller that Mum could use for Puyo Puyo Tetris!
.. I am NOT installing that game on my Switch 2!! I'll never get it back!

Our NS1 was only out of the dock when I changed the game cards

We had the Pro Controller 1 and a 3rd partner controller, but that 3rd partner one range was pretty poor so when the NS2 new Pro Controller was announce I used it as an excuse the update it

Also since I've got large hands the joy-cons were never comfy to use.

I couldn't enjoy Mario Kart World beyond 50cc. The nausea levels did it. Honestly, I didn't think there was that much of a difference between 50 and 100, but. Ugh..
I'm now finding myself playing No Man's Sky a bunch.
... hmmm.. :/
Kinda tempted to try Cyberpunk, but ... maybe wait for a price drop first!

Uhoh!!!

.. don't worry, it's the old Switch.
...
... I think I might end up having to buy Mum a new Switch.
Am currently running FastRMX on to drain the battery, in the hope that a full discharge recharge cycle might help. It's been going a good half an hour, so far, but is still going "Console Battery Low"! "It will soon go to sleep!!"

Yep, it's going to take a couple of days before I can say for sure if Mum needs a new Switch.
Right now, Chell's jumping in and out of a couple of portals, in the hope that it drains the battery a bit quicker

It managed about 3.5 hours, which I think is actually quite good, right??!

... but every 5 seconds the "battery low" warning would pop up, so not ideal for playing.
It's now on charge. We'll see what happens.

Is the battery easily replacable?

You need some tiny screwdrivers I think.

It's had a full charge, overnight, and seems to be quite happily sitting at 100%, which is a good sign. It's currently doing a bit more Chell-hopping, this morning, to re-drain it, and then I'll give it another full charge. But. Yeah, it actually looks like it might've fixed itself, which is nice.

That's a relief! Also, glad to know the battery should be user-servicable. I might consider picking a switch / switch 2 up later on in the year if things go well.... and I don't get distracted by other shiny things (arcade cab, etc, etc)

You can replace the battery in the Switch.
You have to be very very careful though - work slowly. The battery is glued down.

Best to take pictures the whole way and use a magnetic dish to keep the screws because you're going to have quite a few. A silicone parts mat with small part indentations is also nice.

The Joycons' batteries are the worst replacement. They're more complex than initially appear and very fragile.

I did mine but it took me 2 hours to do both the console and joycons.
It's best just to buy a full kit that way you'll get what you need.

I think there are actually one or two different sizes for their tri-wing screws so it makes sense just to buy the battery the drivers and the pry tools that come in a kit.
