A Decade Later

Been reminiscing, today.
Reading through old threads, blogs, facebookings and tweets..
Kind of a bit morbid, if I'm honest.

That Thread

Thanks to everyone who helped keep me from going batshit insane, while I was stuck with a shifty HTC Wildfire for company.
I dug out the bag-o-shite phone, earlier, and got the original resolution pics.

oh, the fun..

It's a decade later. I'm still not right, but at least I'm no worse.
Life goes on, right?!

Yeah, like I said before, you and your mam, your both troopers, hats off to the pair of you's, life took a turn, things changed dramatically and you both squared up to it!

I mean, I cannot compare to that like, but my lowest point, when I split up with the ex, I hit the drink solid for a year, pretty much up to the eyeballs in self-pity... I'm big enough to admit that!

I was working away, but, it still wasnt good because I was driving too. The final straw for me was driving back from Liverpool, I was on the M62, just west of the M6 in fact, and I was indeed still pissed, completely stupid, but even though my head was in bits, something just clicked in a "what are you doing" way, and it dawned on me that day there was no excuse, I needed to sort my shit out, and that's when I decided to go travelling... Got home, went on the PC and booked a week in New York, then after that, everything was aimed at that because I was going no holds barred, no expense spared. And ever since, I've had a new angle on life... Didnt drink as quarter as much, if that nowadays.

The years previous to Covid was travel travel travel, I was on 22 aeroplanes visiting numourous countries in one year, sometimes doing multi-flight trips in one country then hopping to another, went to concerts in Italy, took up diving and sank me carcass into the depths all around the UK and in various spots abroad, retrained, new career path in fire protection... Ultimately... I sorted me shit out, I'm pretty much good now with myself, what happened etc etc but it took a lot because sometimes I would get down in the dumps when I thought about the money I lost with the house, the money her parents never paid me when we had a business thing going, and obviously the reason for the divorce, her getting her end away in a pub bog down Durham (But that's the police for you, seems to be a natural thing when people join the force), but, when that old feeling of self-pity started creeping in, I had one weapon up my sleeve when I got that feeling and it would spark me back up, and it was this:-

That song really resonated with me, and literally got me through my issues and out the other side... From being pissed on the M62 behind the wheel to having my own home with the poshest of fire places in County Durham... It has been a journey like, and yeah... I'm pretty proud of myself when I think!

Anyhoo, enough of my x-factor "been a journey" shite, like I said, I had nothing compared to you Jay, my story is nowt compared to yours, but do understand, when your on the bottom, I can relate, and there's only one thing to do... Rise up to it and get yourself out of the hole... Move forward, keep going!

Now that I'm down to a #1-all-over, you can really see my two dents, where they drilled holes and put the drains in.
..

Ugh..

So gangsta! If you play that right, you could totally pick up chicks at the pub with those.

@Jayenkai

I don't post very often but I have to ask. They drilled holes in your head to put drains in?

After discovering a large amount of (CSF) brain fluid, they needed to drain a bit before they could operate properly. They made a hole (I presume with a drill.. that's how you make holes, right? god knows, I wasn't conscious!) and shoved a tube in, then fed it to a bag. The bag was on one of those IV Drip stands that they use. The fluid ended up in the bag, and my head became less chaotic as a result. Later, they did the same on the other side, too, so they got double the fluid! Woot!!!
They eventually managed to get at the cyst, from the back of the neck, where my BIG scar still remains.

Since my head continues to generate way too much fluid, I now have an internal drain. A contraption inside my skull sucks up excess fluid and sends it down a tube that runs from my right ear, all the way down to my gut, where it spits it out .. somewhere.. again, didn't ask.. sounds icky!!
If you'd like to Google it, look for "csf shunt"
I've tried to read about it a few times, but my mind's in a "oh god no, I don't want to read this!!" sort of a mindset.

That's a lot of fluid, I didn't realise there was so much in there.

Sometimes it is best to accept that the experts know what they are doing and to be thankful you can just get on with what is important...making a game a day etc.

Wow, that's a lot of fluid and a big scar. If it makes you feel any better, I know exactly how scary that kind of medical condition is like, I just recently had to have an emergency liver transplant because of the liver disease PSC

Yikes. Hope you're feeling alright.
Yeah, like Andy says, there's nothing we can do here. Just stop worrying and hope they don't bugger things up.

Scary as hell, though. Scary as hell..
