Jayenkai	UK ''Online Safety Act'' Age Verification Threat This is impending, and the site might end up having to disappear. I'd rather not lock down the site, mostly because.. Quite frankly, I can't prove that I'm old enough to be here!!! I'm 45, I have no I.D. and as a result, there's no way that I've found that I can integrate into the site. to prove that I'm old enough to use the site! I'm going to be holding on until things look really bad, but in the meantime I've done what I can to reduce the threat of the site being closed or locked down. If I have to Age Verify, then ... I honestly can't win, and the site will likely have to be closed. Either that or it can run happily, clamped down like crazy, (and with SO many privacy complications!) but without me being here... which I'm sure plenty of people would love. So, here's what I'm doing. I'm reducing the probability of this being an unsafe site for children. SoCoder hasn't exactly been a place of "adult content" as it is, and ..other than a liberal amount of swearing, I think we've been fairly clean this whole time. There's a risk of Private Messages being misused, so.. with the most honest apologies that I can muster.. All the Private Message buttons have gone from the site. Your old PM's are still available, because removing them all would be an evil thing to do. (..again!) The uploader has also had the "Hide" function removed, because that could potentially be used to upload hidden illicit content to the server. These two elements should stop any untoward users from being able to hide anything on the server. Everything from here on will be displayed to everyone, so the absolute rule going forwards is "Child Friendly Content". If it isn't child friendly, don't post it, and I'm going to have to be really strict on that one. If you see anything untoward, let me know about it, and I'll edit or remove as appropriate. I'm tempted to add a swear filter, too. .. Let's be honest, I think I need one on myself, physically!! If all the swearing vanishes over the next day or so, presume it's down to this. So, yeah, that's that. It's a real shame I've had to do this, but over the past few weeks it's felt like the impending rules were going to force me to remove everything and send all the remaining members over to Discord. ugh.. ... You know, I bet I'm going to get kicked out of Discord, soon, too. I really need to get some ID! spinal	I don't think the site has anything to worry about. I've never seen anything that could be considered harmful on here. But I suppose it depends on how strict Ofcom are being about the situation. However, we will all stand by you in whatever you need to do to bring the site up to code (hehe). -=-=- Check out my excellent homepage!

cyangames	Yeah, a few forums I'm involved with are shutting up shop for good in a couple of days due to some users, sad times, removal of communities, etc, etc. I do truly fear such a loosely worded act that is all encompassing in it's scope is going to be used for some bad stuff, there's a lot of industries out there that face the prospect of being shut down on a whim due to this. I've had to close down a number of little tools I've made that deal with image manipulation that are public this morning, teh sux -=-=- Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!
