Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Adverts vs Sites

I love Google Chrome, and in 95% of cases don't mind putting up with adverts, but my list of regular sites has drastically changed since switching to Chrome.
I used to LOVE reading Digital Spy, but once the adverts started to literally overlap people's forum posts, that was that.. Gone
I've recently started to find myself drifting from Kotaku, mostly because they have ginormous adverts that cover up half the damn page, and spring out whilst you move the mouse around.

|!!ARGH| And don't get me started on those "Green Underscore" pop-ups.. Bahh!! |ARGH!!|

QOTD : What sites have you stopped reading purely because of all the bloody adverts?

I never really leave a site because of adverts, because
1) There aren't many sites I've seen with totally disruptive adverts
2) I use FF+ABP so I forget ads even exist...

But one time, someone put google ads right below their nav bar, and the links were actually relevant and what I needed. The links had the exact same style as the navbar, so without seeing the "Google Ads" link the seperated the navbar from the ads, I would have no idea that I was about to click on the ad. Needless to say, I left the site after that.
(Wasn't a regular site, I just needed to do some research or something)

None. Switch to Firefox, and forget the ads. Some people call it unethical, and they're free to do so, but I like my virtually ad-free browsing.

Seconded. Without adverts there'd be no Spotify!
Adverts are good for you!

I'm OK with adverts on websites, so long as they are fairly unobtrusive and fairly relevant to the site's content. Popups, large flashing adverts, and stuff like that I do find quite annoying.
