Had to ring up to get the bloody thing solved..

Phones!
1800's technology to fix a web-based issue for a company that prides itself on 21st century content.

*sigh*

The other day I went to renew the server for 6 months. It automatically adds 1 month to the checkout, then you up the value to 6 months, before clicking "Pay Now"
This is how I've done it the past few times, and was exactly how I expected it to go, this time.

Nope.

When I got the bill, I noticed it'd changed the Server Renewal to 6 months, but inexplicably not the Add-ons. They were still set to 1 month.
Unless we want the server to go crazy in a month's time, I needed to fix that.
I tried for a while to do it via the net, but.. No.. Apparently GoDaddy aren't sophisticated enough to do things via that new-fangled internet thing.
I sighed, and in an effort to calm myself down, I switched to a coding side-project.
(See Jay Plays with Mandelbrot)

Today, thoroughly calmed down, I rang them up and got the whole issue sorted. I complained their checkout script was duff, and that they oughta fix it.

"Do I get a nice big discount for having noticed this bug?"
..
"There's nothing I can do right now, but next time you're renewing, contact me and I'll see you get a decent discount."

So, guess that makes it ok..
.. Assuming that guy's still there in 6 months when I'm renewing again!

*sigh*

My favourite part of the ordeal was the guy who popped up on every single one of your Facebook posts with an [very GeoCities page looking] advert [complete with misspellings] for his web service with a customer base made up of disgruntled ex-GoDaddy users.

All the raw, animal magnetism of a rutabaga.

Yeah, I made use of my "I'm just going to ignore that..." abilities!

Truth be told, this is a web-design error, not a "GoDaddy hosting" error. The hosting has been (*almost) flawless for the insane amount of time that they've been hosting SoCoder.

The actual issue I had was that GoDaddy are forcing people to have to ring up for shit like this, instead of doing net-based conversations.
That really ticked me off.
If I could've emailed them and said "Hey, your website's knackered", then I'm fairly sure this could've been resolved without a bloody phone call.

.. I hate phone calls!!!
