LMMS (free daw)

I had discovered this recently. LMMS was originally a Linux Digital Audio Workstation. It has a windows port (32 and 64bit) also. It is free and seems to be quite solid and capable.

There are a whole bunch of instruments included(nintendo and retro etc. (not samples but synths))

I had this card with a code for free Korg instruments and I downloaded the M1 Light Edition and it was not a big deal getting this inside LMMS.

There are a bunch of demo files and samples included(not a whole lot though)

I've had LMMS for a few years, only ever played around with it aimlessly though. And yeah, you're right, it was originally a Linux application. LMMS = Linux MultiMedia Studio.

There were a lot of Youtube tutorials on LMMS back when I first downloaded it, I assume they're still there. It does seem to be a very capable piece of kit.

Ah, I just noticed I wrote it wrong.

A problem with lmms and other tools is the instruments. A lot of free vst’s but mostly not that user friendly. No presets with synh1 for instance.

Edit:

I just noticed that korg released the gadget instruments for the pc. 200 for the pack. Now at sale for 150.

On the subject of user unfriendliness, in a sense, LMMS is to FL Studio what Blender is to 3D Studio Max; but I've heard here and there that it's pretty capable once you get the hang of it.
