This is our new logo.
Do you like it?

Your options are...

1. "Yes, that's a bit odd, but then so was the name Socoder when I first heard it. I managed to get used to that, and I guess I'll get used to this. At least it's a logo! We've never had a logo before. And this one's kinda neat since the simple ball shape can be reused in many different areas, not only on the site, but also in our projects, and in signatures, and maybe even some adverts and links and things like that, too!"

or

2. "No, this one's better : Include your own."

Visually, I like it (especially the green one), but I can't help thinking it should include the 'S' somehow, though I can't think of a way that wouldn't be overcrowded.

Ditto what 9572AD said about the "S". But also, #1. (Edit: it's growing on me already)

Ditto HoboBen's dittoing of 9572AD!

I really like the green and grey one; I've been a big fan of the color scheme since it was introduced because you don't see it around as much and it looks really slick imo. I just hope people don't think we support the OC though

Didn't think about the 'S' missing when I first saw the logo, but it's true that it is a bit weird that it spells oC. I still like it anyway.

The C could be above the O, in any of a hundred positions, to make an S. I like the blue too.

Reminds me of the googly eyes emote -> o.0

SoCPC needs some lovin' too:

If you look at my counters for Patent Wars, you can see where the idea originated.

Coming up with 6, different enough, yet similar counters, within only 16x16 pixels was hard!! So circles within circles was the design used.
Counter #1 looked pretty cool, so I thought I'd try it out on Socoder.

Tried it in place of the O's, but it didn't really go.

At that point, I realised the C was there, so in it popped, looking pretty damn spiffy, whilst also being legible.
The carving on the left gave us the O, and we've got ourselves a logo.

Although the idea of "Add the S" is a decent one, and Cucco's is quite nice, it also leaves us with..

Which.. Isn't quite as readable!!

bottom one is not too bad as you can see the O and C

I believe that's because the very bottom one is the real one.

THAT'S GREAT!!!!

You did a great job. Don't forget to make a 3D ball type. For those spot branding needs.

Very eye catching. Use it for your tweets right away.

But it's still a bit of a strange logo and it means the SoCoder initials are now oC.

No. You're reading it wrong.

It's Still SC but the logo, which is a portion of the name, can be used for visual branding.

Those that are not familiar with the logo and its meaning, having never been to the site, will drop by to check.

Which is what Jay wants. There are thousands of other logos in the world that do the same thing.

But the logo should reflect the original name. oC are not the expected initials of SoCoder, instead it's SC or So.

Jay, could you make one where the o is bigger?

I see what you mean but many other companies have the same thing. They establish a icon or logo that is familiar to the public.

It may so abstract that it does not say anything about the company or what it does, but people recognize it and the company.

Jay it's beautiful. Do whatever you want but do not stray too far from this. This is GOOD!!!

The idea that flying cuckoo had is also a good one.

The two symbols can make an S and then that also works.
It also would resolve the name issue.

@Jay's last post - I prefer the bottom image in there because the "OC" part isn't as large as the one in the logo currently used in the green/grey theme.

It's the same one, Hobo, just with capital bold letters instead of regular letters..

I see that it can represent an S but the way it's being used represents both part of the word and alone, it becomes something abstract, maybe unique if done right, to further identify the company.

Jay the gif animation was great. Another good job.

This one looks good. Use it.

The symbol doesn't have to reflect the wording one bit, it can be abstract or whatever. It's branding. DNA seems to be one of the few that understands it.

It's unique, creative, and it works.
