Fluke
Anyone addicted to Audiosurf? If you don't know what it is, it's one of the entries for this years IGF, and was released on Steam the other day. Rather than try and explain it, looky here.

It's not a bad game, but I feel that they kinda wasted the whole Puzzle element.
The game is 1000 times better when played in "Mono" mode, where you're just dodging/collection, as opposed to trying to solve puzzles whilst playing music based levels.

Given the background music-based technology I'm sure plenty of interesting games could come out of it. For the meantime, I'll keep playing in Mono mode.

I find it kinda quirky that the most fun levels I've played on it are the soundtrack to Vib Ribbon.. another music-based game, where the music has been designed specifically to get the most out of the music-reading engine.

Many months on, I'm sticking with those thoughts! Still a cracking game, and something to play when you wake up at 5 in the morning, and have nothing better to do..

Anyhoo, just noticed on the Steam Update News thing that Audiosurf is only $2.49 this week..
Seriously, who wouldn't buy it for that price!!

If you want to add me as an AudioSurf friend, so that you can see my bizarre music collection, and wonder wtf most of it is.. I'm Jayenkai, although that's probably blindingly obvious..

Hm... I might give this a try, although after I discovered YouTube, I don't really have any mp3 files on my computer anymore!!
I could always rip Death Magnetic though. :]

I played the demo, and twas awesome. At the low price, I might just buy it.

I don't have much music, though...

You get a few free downloads each week with the game. Kinda nice, but so far it's been nothing magical.. (Or, at least, whilst playing Mono mode, the music tracks they're picking aren't quite up to the task.. IMO)

Amazon have a collection of free mp3s! (Link handily posted at fromthegutter.org, earlier this month..)
