Does Sublime Text 2 support autocomplete?
Can you go to the definition of classes and structs?
Does it support build automation?

If it does, I don't see what's so different from an IDE.
If it doesn't, then I don't see the difference between Sublime Text 2 and Notepad, except for [custom] color schemes and the ability to have multiple files open at once.

Yeah, I'm not going to waste time explaining how a programmer's text editor differs from Notepad or a typical IDE. If you somehow haven't figured it out in the last 11 years, you're hopeless.

I know most text editors don't support build automation, and quite frankly I don't see the big deal.
Most IDEs will allow you to pass parameters to the compiler anyway...

The real difference between IDEs and text editors, is that they go beyond the text-editing bit. They also tend to have more project specific types of setups, with templates provided.

When IDEs fit just right, they are awesome. The trouble is that most don't fit well. NetBeans and IntelliJ for massive Java projects work well, VS too with C# and TypeScript, and that's about it.

I'd otherwise just prefer a text-editor, namely Vim.

I would count code-completion as a part of a text-editor.

I was trying to point out that the way to code android via Eclipse is terrible and buggy, an IDE is perfect to not scare people away from it.

Text editors and IDEs have their pros/cons depending on what you are coding. for example Visual Basic in a text editor would suck!
