Socoder -> Off Topic -> Project Motivation

I have quite a few projects that I have thought of lately and I have great ideas for them. But I never seen to have the time to sit down and program them. Maybe it's because I want to learn OpenGL first and I haven't yet gotten around to it. I think that it could be that I need some motivation from other people. I would like to start a team to help me get work on these and maybe we could work on them. I wanted to make them myself but I now realize that that is not possible. If anyone wants to start a team with my I am open to ideas. I will be using C++ with OpenGL for this unless anyone has any other ideas. For the art I will eventually need an artist but for the time being I or someone else can make the basic art. I will need an animator, sound artist, programmers, and people to contribute with ideas and such. I'll also give anyone who joins the team a section on my website (yourname.krypton-media.com) and a e-mail address (yourname@krypton-media.com). Although I don't want the webspace to be a deciding factor in joining the team. So what do you guys think?

mmm... good idea...
I am really interested! But I have never programmed with the OpenGL lib...

Roger Federer is go(o)d.
But he is not alone.

Just relax... sometimes there's no need to argue.

eh. Neither have I. It would be a learning experience in the beginning until we get in to the "groove".

Good luck with it

If you are planning something big then I would recommend using a language that everyone is familiar with. IE: Blitz.

If you really want to use and learn C++ and open GL. Then it may be better to start of with simple things. Like a WW or something. Just my $0.02.

I have been learning OpenGL with Ruby for a while, so I have some experience with getting started with OpenGL. But I'm still not ready to get around to learning C++ yet. I have too much work.

I do want to learn it though, primarily to learn to write C-extensions for Ruby. Then my OpenGL graphics engine will be faster.

I am thinking of looking into writing an easy to use Blitz style graphics engine, using OpenGL, for Ruby. Only 2d though.
