For someone that was told he was pretty much doomed from the start, that bloke still managed to beat his way through to stardom in more than one way. On top of the physics stuff he's been featured in TV and film, and done the Zero-G among shitloads of other things that most of us able-bodied people haven't even come close to achieving.

Reaching 76 after all that, may you float the heavens and cause more big bangs somewhere out there.

He's even probably out-lived the doctors that diagnosed his condition and told him he would never see old age.

According to BBC Breakfast he was diagnosed with MND in 1963 and given just two years to live. I think he had a fair crack at the whip, considering!

Long may he be remembered for his contributions to science and humankind. R.I.P.

Just goes to show doctors DO get it wrong.

Always makes me squirm when judges order a babies' life support be turned off on the recommendation of doctors. Humanity to me says we should try every possibility - however small the chance of success. Writing off an innocent human life is just wrong.

Now that he's free from it, I'm wondering what they're gonna do with his wheelchair, they can't hand it onto someone else to use because it just wouldn't be right. Maybe they should put it in Space like Elon Musk did with his Tesla, just a thought that's all. Such a great man deserves that kind of gesture.
