Retro gaming is amazing!

Except for when the hardware breaks down - sending the SNES off for a check-up and possibly repairs. 🤞

£150 laptops are £150 for a reason, Everyone "only does emails and a little web browsing" you still need at least an i3 with 8GB RAM to run windows 11.

If you run Linux Mint though

I was going to say that, but given how much I'm struggling to run hacky/retro-coding stuff on a Mac, I can't imagine it'd be easy on a Linux device, either.
Wine is only useful until it isn't, and then it all becomes a right pain in the arse.

It's a lot easier when you use Virtuabox with shared folders, just depends what you're doing I guess.

How do you nurture your passions?
Wed, 04 Sep 2024, 02:05

Boredom helps.

cyangames
Agreed, boredom is vastly underrated nowadays. Kids, phones, etc, etc.

For me, it depends on the passion at the time, sometimes it's gardening which handles part of my needs to care for and look after things, at least when the kids aren't here anyway.

There's always gotta be that "this is something cool" factor about it, growing tomatoes is apprantly one of those things for me. Same for making retro games, it's got that childhood glee to it.

In general the whole making something is just nice, slightly related, someone I gave one of my spare tomato plants to had theirs stolen! Who steals a tomato plant, honestly! I gave them a bunch of tomatoes I had growing out the back yesterday as I have plenty to spare. Next year, even more of them, oh gosh!

Question of the Day : September 7th

What is one value you refuse to compromise on?
Sat, 07 Sep 2024, 16:03

I strive to ensure "bad graphics" don't creep into my games..
I've drawn my fair share of shit graphics, but they all blend together in my unique eclectic style.
"Passable" is ok.
"Bad" is not.

Question of the Day : September 9th

If you could turn any retro video game into a theme park ride, which game would you choose and what would the ride be like?
Mon, 09 Sep 2024, 00:13
Jayenkai
How about a roller coaster that rockets past a bunch of floating spikes!?
Maybe have the coaster go in a constant up and down movement, along the way!
.. Nausea-rama!

100% would ride

Bubble Bobble could be fun rollercoaster wise, ride on bub and bobs back and you can move their head around to squirt bubbles at things along the way, with cool sfx, etc.
