Answer all the questions to get an "I completed the 2006 survey" badge!
(To make things easier, use the little white icon just above this post, next to the "Posted :" bit to copy+paste the survey text with BBCode intact)

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

3. Which of the sites features are completely useless, and should probably be gotten rid of?

7. Shove any other comments here.

(And I'll fix the PM's real soon! I just have to figure out what's wrong with them!)

1) The forums and chat. Never really use the blog.
2) Articles + Tutorials section. I don't ever notice them or use them because they don't really catch my attention.
3) I don't find anything on the site useless.
4) The layout is a little messy.
5) Not really.
6) A picture slide show feature!
7) Nice work, the site is impressive.

1) The forum Secondly, the Link Archive place... I'm a power poster

2) I think that I'm pretty happy

3) I don't know about those

4) I don't know about that, so I'll accuse you of phrasing this quiz too negativly, you sarcastic "too good for Cadbury chocolate" person.

5) No, I think that I'm good.

6) A preview function for your posts... to sort out those BB tags. |edit| And nicely displayed quoting tags. |edit|

7) I'll come back and edit this part once I've had a think.

|edit|
Idea 1: More aggressive advertising (of SoCoder, not on)... for a few more members. Maybe get Squeakyduck to give you a link on their site or actually in the Cobra product...
Idea 2: A reviews section... unless that goes in articles+tutorials as one more section
Idea 3: SoCoder goes 100% open source?
|edit|

power mousey

I use the forums the most.
I have used the MUD+chat a few times. I'm starting to like this.

What to improve: definitely fix the problems with the PM system.

What I use the least is the blog feature. I know...I know this is strange and weird coming from me. Yet, I write a lot, at times, with the regular posts and topics too.

I can't think of anything else at this time.
So I'll scroll down a little to the last part of shoving any other comments.

I'll shove and shovel this onto everybody: I wish some of the people here were a little more open and less full of themselves. Thinking that life just revolves around them and their interests and concerns.
True, it will take time and more of Life 101 for all of us to learn this. And also that its peoples' choice and decision whether to talk, respond, and even sit on their butts. Yet, its a two-way street and my choice and decision as well too.
A friend here talked with me about that and gave me some encouraging words and wisdom. I thank this person very much.
Also, its annoying to keep hearing about getting a Nintendo Wii...hyrule. Life goes on and things come and go!

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Mudchat and Forum

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
The text boxes are really dull, even for Quick Replies.. I should do something about that..

3. Which of the sites features are completely useless, and should probably be gotten rid of?
Blogs, they don't seem to be used that often, other than by people going "Oooh, Blogs!"

4. What's the worst thing about the site?
Lack of Articles, Showcases and Code Snippets

5. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
If there were, I'd've fixed it by now.

6. What new features can you think of?
Some new weekly feature to compliment the WW. I tried "Sunday Showcase Selection" but fairly quickly grew bored of it. I might try starting that up again.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
The forum and the Mud Chat, I don't check the code snippets/articles/showcases very often.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
Like Agent Smith, I dislike the smileys. The member bar at the top shows a lot of obscure numbers, I don't see what purpose they have. New showcases/articles are too discreet; you should make some room on the news page for them.

3. Which of the sites features are completely useless, and should probably be gotten rid of?
Blogs. You can host blogs at millions of other places, there's no need to fill SoCoder's webspace.

4. What's the worst thing about the site?
It's been said before, but I say it again: The site is too inactive, we need more members!

5. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
I haven't noticed anything.

6. What new features can you think of?
Text formatting buttons right above the text area when you post a topic/reply.

7. Shove any other comments here.
You've done an awesome job, Jayenkai. Keep up the good work!

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
Layout.
3. Which of the sites features are completely useless, and should probably be gotten rid of?
Blogs, Notepad
4. What's the worst thing about the site?
Nothing really..
5. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
Nope
6. What new features can you think of?
Text formating would be nice, .com domain, advertising..
7. Shove any other comments here.
Great job! Keep it up, I think the layout could use a little pizazz though (highlighting on the images, Navbar like CW's, etc.) Maybe move the users and their clocks to the bottom somewhere...

1. The MUD, and the Forum. I haven't even looked at most of the rest.

2. Apart from the MUD, everything is pretty good. I'd like some better smilies, but that's just finding some, isn't it?

3. The blog. Go open a website. Or the notepad. I have any number of places to write things I need to remember, such as my forehead.

4. Nothing is bad.

5. Nope. All pretty good.

6. More smilies, better post formatting, better layouts, just asthetic things.

7. Nice work Jay. On the advertising thing: If you create a good website, it will attract good members through word of mouth. It is better to create a reputation for high quality answers to questions, reasonable on-topic-ness, and nice people, then people will come and stay by themselves.

All just my $0.02.

Thanks to blanko |edit| no, garand, actually |edit|, I've just noticed another small fault: If you forget to close BBCode tags (or at least EDIT, anyway), then they run over into your signiture.

Hey, I had a few more ideas...

The news articles on the front page should be shifted to another page... instead you should have a welcoming front page with a "SoCoder is a such and such thing... and this is why you should register and stay here" statement, and underneath any (say 3?) new showcases with screenshots have a big and shiny area to be showed off in.

And I found the notepad very handy... because I lose paper, and switch computers, but the SoCoder one is always in the same place.

I also thought that maybe an art bin would be fun... You just upload or provide a link to either a nice rendering, a ZIP'd/RAR'd pack of textures, or a neat doodle that you drew.

I'm sure that I had other ideas, but I can't remember them now.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often? MUD Chat

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved? There should be more in the "Reply" section, since as of now there's absolutely no difference between it and the quick reply.

3. Which of the sites features are completely useless, and should probably be gotten rid of? Notepad i guess?

4. What's the worst thing about the site? lack of members

5. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed? Changing the server time to GMT, i don't know what time its on now and its not even listed, so i put in -5 for my timezone but i don't know what time it is on the server and don't care to look, even though i know -5 is definately not right for where i am in relation to the server.

6. What new features can you think of? Better reply box (not the quick reply, the normal reply)

7. Shove any other comments here. You've done well with this site thus far, and i think we all appreciate it.

1) The forums and chat are probably the most useful
2) Erm, what's the articles and tutorials section?
3) I don't find anything on the site useless except for the 3 page long list of webstats.
4) There aren't that many members, though that can be fixed easily
5) No
6) Possibly a form to fill in (made using my favourite languauge, PHP!) when submitting your WW entries
7) Well Done Jayenkai, you've not only done well well, you've learnt my name!
