I find it funny how so many Linux devs proclaim how secure Linux is, when in reality server security comes almost entirely down to the administration.

Linux is extremely secure. This is the fault of buggy software.

That being said, the whole point of password hashing it to protect the original password. What is with all these sites getting hacked and the passwords being venerable? This is result of unqualified software developers. You should be hashing passwords hundreds of thousands of iterations.

That was mostly my point, and I wasn't really trying to have a go at Linux. Simply that most insecurities are down to mismanagement.
