Argh,. Google! Shut up about your new privacy policy. It’s not like I have a choice about it if I want to use gmail anyway

I can see why people are annoyed by that, but IMO it's better to let everyone know (ie, those none techy family members who we're all dragging online!)

If they didn't point it out, people would blog that Google are secretly changing their terms.

They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Although I too am getting annoyed by the number of times it pops up, especially how it appears on top of controls.

If you go and view the new policy while logged in though, doesn't it remember that you've read the policy and not throw them up again on that Google account? I haven't seen those messages pop up at all since I opened the new policy page while logged in.

It pops up a lot if you aren't logged in. I do all my web development in a copy of Chrome that always opens in incognito mode (so I always get an empty cache), and I get it all the time.

That is understandable, but the main issue is how much it pops up on top of other stuff.

Netflix changed their ToS/Privacy thing recently and it threw my dad so much that he called me to yell at me about messing with his account. I had to explain to him that this sort of thing was not uncommon (and that I haven't had the account password since they took over the account and changed it.)
