JL235	As well made as it is, I prefer the Windows 8 interface. Seeing iOS on such a big screen feels like just on a desktop, but touch. Especially with the desktop like bar at the top of Safari; IE 10 Metro looks much nicer. JL235	I am very happy with it. It's really polished, and it's pretty hard to find issues. Although it did freeze up yesterday whilst playing a game. One big negative is that moving the text cursor is really fiddly, and the app store is too difficult to navigate. It's especially difficult to just browse across games. However the interface feels much more desktopy then I was expecting; especially web browsers, they look pretty much the same as their desktop counterparts. Task switching is also slower then I was expecting; this is something I feel windows 8 does better. Infect overall I feel if windows 8 ends up as polished and stable, then it'll be a nicer tablet OS. Another thing I dislike is that browsers don't use the full resolution; it's only 1024 pixels wide. It would be nice if I could get it running at the full resolution. The lack or free stuff is also staggering. I get that it's a market place, but if you want anything decent, you have to pay. It's much more extreme then what I am used to on the desktop. I also find it surprisingly fiddly to hold and type on. When it's landscape it's too wide to reach the whole keyboard, and when it's portrait it's too small and fiddly to type accurately. But overall the iPad rocks!

spinal	Have you had any of those overheating issues that people have been complaining about? Also, I agree that typing on the iPad is quite difficult, made harder by the fact that most of the punctuation and other keys are on a second or third keyboard, typing fast really isn't an option. -=-=- Check out my excellent homepage!

JL235	Thanks Jay, I've just split it, and I'm finding a little easier. But part of the problem is that the edges stick into your palms, and it slowly slides down. Sooke having o readjust it. @spinal, I have heating issues. It is only meant to happen in one corner, but none of it even feels warm. At times it actually feels quite cold. Although I have the screen turned down quite a bit (as it is really bright), so maybe that's partly why.

JL235	Another thing I don't like is flicking the screenshots in the app store. I find it tricky flicking them with my thumb on their edge; instead I have to flick them in the middle with quite some force. This means moving my hands. : (

However, you can do HDMI, VGA, and microSD through the dock connector. uh, this is actually where Apple really sucks for it's devices. Yes it's not that big of a problem, and yes you can use it for 99% of day to day use without issue, but for that 1%, your screwed, since you can't do it by default. You can get adapters so you can plug stuff in, but they are really expensive. Given how cheap leads are to produce, and how expensive the device is, it seems really stingy to not throw one or two different adapters in for free. You also have to carry those converters around with you all the time, just in case. For example if I went round someone's house, chances are that they already own a HDMI cable (via their Freeview box or DVD player). If I had an ASUS Transformer, and wanted to plug it in to show something, I can! With the iPad I'd have to remember to keep that cable with me, just in case. Plus what if I plan to charge it whilst it's plugged into the TV? After all it's not going anywhere. With the iPad you can't, since there is only one plug socket on the device. With other tablets you can, since HDMI and power are separate sockets. It's small, but one of the very many annoying aspects of Apples hatred of cables. The lack of the SD card also means if you run out of space; tough. You can't just buy a card and keep it in there forever, or swap between them. In fairness, I own the 16gb iPad 3 and don't believe I will ever run out of space. But that is because I don't plan on putting all my music on there, and all the videos I watch are streamed. Finally the USB cable for the charger is ridiculously short. It's the same length as the one for the iPhone, but it's almost odd how short it is. Of all my portable devices, the iPad has the shortest charger, whilst being the most expensive. That sucks. None of those are show stoppers; I wouldn't ever use them as reasons on why someone shouldn't get an iPad (and it is an awesome device). But they are all places where the iPad is the worst of all tablets.

The cords, chargers, and adapters. Like you said, it's not an issue 99% of the time because developers were aware of these limitations and worked around them. Everyone throws a hissy fit when they don't get removable internal storage, but I rarely see anybody switching between cards. Plus lets face it, carrying around a bunch of little plastic chips is a nightmare. iCloud solves most storage problems by streaming movies, TV shows, and music--if you buy content from Apple. Otherwise you're screwed and Apple really is a prick about forcing you in to the iTunes world. I picked up an Apple TV a few days ago and it doesn't support Hulu. I read that the app has already been seen on test devices and Apple yanked it because it would compete with iTunes.
