What did you get done this month?
  • Enough...

    Did everything turn out as planned?
    4 games, and plenty of random attention from a Flappy Bird clone.
    Kinda bummed that I didn't add fucktons of adverts and shit into my Flappy game, though. Could've been useful for dragging in the newbies..

    Going a bit slow, this month, if I'm honest. Lacking in energy, quite dizzy, and generally feeling a bit down.
    Trying to code, but it's getting tough for some reason.. *shrugs*

    I should be working on this week's game, but it requires lots of art, and I don't think I can be arsed..

  • Implemented character retirement part of Project Dollhouse protocol
  • Started writing an essay on why people choose suicide
  • Fixed bugs in Project Dollhouse
  • Started working on Project Dollhouse protocol encryption

    Did everything turn out as planned?
    More or less. Character retirement protocol still needs some stability fixes. Encryption is only just started, but I have a feeling it will turn out much better than the system currently in place.
    I still need to finish the essay.

    Ok! I think I finally landed on Elliptic Curve Diffie Hellman (ECDH), but it wasn't an easy choice.

    What did you get done this month?
  • Started learning Go.
  • Wrote an MD3 -> OBJ file converter in Go, since there are no longer any functioning MD3 importers/exporters for Blender or other modeling programs.
  • Played a lot of Dark Souls 2. Finished the main storyline, though I still have a lot of other things to do in it.

    Did everything turn out as planned?
    The MD3 -> OBJ converter mostly went as planned. I still want to write a model viewer for it as well, but that's not high-priority.

  • Didn't spend any time working on Cowlips or Rusalka.
  • Haven't quite figured out what I'm doing right now.

    Dark Souls 2 takes a lot of time. Also lost a ton of motivation to do anything for various reasons.

    What's the plan for the month ahead?
  • Crown one of my teeth because it's fractured and I can't chew on that side of my mouth 'til it's fixed. The tooth currently has a sedative filling in it, which helps remove the sensitivity that came about as a result of the fracture and some decay (decay got under the previous filling, which considering how old it was suggests the filling wasn't really doing its job anymore). So one of my molars is currently packed full of the functional equivalent of benzocaine to stop my tooth's nerves from killing themselves.
  • Probably work on that model viewer, or at least an MD3 viewer. Probably also not going with the GL core profile because MD3s don't really benefit from shaders. At least one person might feel like arguing with me about this because Quake 3 had shaders, so to cut that off before anyone says anything stupid: Quake 3's shaders (essentially multi-pass material definitions) are not actual shaders.
  • Get back to working on Cowlips. Probably move the majority of the code from Ruby to Go. Maybe just compile directly to Go since that could be fun, though it would require me to do some type inference of my own and you know what that's probably not a good idea. I'll just continue targeting Rusalka bytecode.
  • Maybe devote the entirety of April to building gameplay prototypes. This would be easier if there were simple 2D engines now that didn't rely on really advanced, annoyingly complex physics engines for collision detection. LOOKING AT YOU, LOVE2D.

    Released a game on Android, digging in a caravan in Derby, nabbed meself a date on POF and currently sitting in a parking layby on the A46 in Coventry waiting for traffic management to sort their shit out and close the road!
