servage - 99.98% Server Uptime

Lets hope that right now is that .02%. My website and hobo\'s are not working as of now. I can still log in to the servage site and also my webmail, but I cannot access www.krypton-media.com.

And now, you and hobo are in compeitition eh?
To get more of those free mega or giga bytes of extra storage space.

Both competing coupons.

There was a notice that they were taking a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on cluster 25... which I think we're both on.

The insane spike in traffic and load on their servers would have blocked us from accessing.

Most hosts offer 99% uptime.
Some go as far as 99.9%
But 99.98% is really excellent, however this still means a reasonable 105 minutes a year of downtime. So don't get too shocked yet, unless it always happens.

Workings...

Of a year,
100% = 52*7*24*60 = 524160 minutes
1% = 5241.6 minutes
0.1% = 524.16 minutes
0.01% = 52.416 minutes

99% uptime = 5241.6 mins lost per year = 87.36 hours
99.9% uptime = 524.16 mins lost per year = 8.736 hours lost
99.98% uptime = 104.824 mins lost per year = 1.74709 hours lost

(by the way, this is a nice change from Oscar's old 50% uptime! I wonder if he's got a new host yet?)

I don*t think Oscar*s bothered to sort out a new server yet. He*s a little busy with other things right now.

@ Hobo : Wowie, you coded your own graphics library?

(now using *s instead of apostrophies, Firefox is taking the smeg.. It won*t even let me move about an input box with the arrow\home\end keys anymore. and now forward slash is bringing up quickfind, too. Gah!)

Hey, is the weird firefox Vista's fault, do you think?

I'm worried that I named the graphics library badly - it's a library of content packs, not a library of graphics functions... But, I coded the PHP myself

I used to have the weird firefox bug in XP, too, but it's getting rediculous, lately..

The bug is apparently something to do with having Firefox open Maximised, or something. Possibly 'cos I'm using a "My nice new keyboard has an Internet button" shortcut, or something.
6th post down described a bit more about the bug.
