Socoder -> Art and Sound -> Needed: artist for projects

Well, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. I have a lot of games I would like to put together. Trouble is, I'm no good with graphics. I've been talking with friends and getting different people who agree to help me out with making the graphics. So I get busy with the project, and when I have work to show, they end up not giving anything for the game.

I'm hoping to make some money off the projects I finish, and share it with whoever helps. I don't expect to make a ton of money, but the more projects I can finish with someone, the better chances we have of making much more money. And, I would hope that the extra income would encourage these people to help out... but I guess not.

So once again, I'm looking for artists interested in helping me with any of my projects. If you, or anyone you know would be interested in being part of any of my projects, let me know, I'll be glad to work on a project with someone.

Good luck with the hunt!

Actually, here's a point - are there any serious artists on these forums? A lot of programmers are aesthetically inept!

That's a good point, the Blitzcoder line of sites hasn't really (not to my knowledge at least) attracted many artists. I remember a few past fiascos related to this kind of things. But honestly, HoboHen, I'm not sure if they're inept or just flat lazy. And mindstorm, good luck with that, I'd help you if I could but I don't think you'd want me to draw anything for you.

and also decadent too.

I wish I can draw and paint like that guy
in the HEROES tv series. Yet, I wouldn't
want to paint the future though.

Decadent, lazy, and artistically challenged - yup, that's me!

I vote for lazy! We're too busy coding to bother with art, but most of us could probably come up with decent stuff if we put our minds to it.
..
We just don't!

Huruey's a decent artist.. Shame he's still not signed up here, yet!

Why isn't there an art program for programmers? That'll be my next project. But first, I'll just have to finish my 4E6 entry. I doubt I'll be finished this century though

Phoenix: Actually I was working on something like that. I called it SuperTurtle. The idea was for pictures to be built mostly by scripts, instead of the standard mouse doodling. You could still create your images with the mouse, and have all the tools there, but all your edits would be added to the script. It would be like allowing you to go back through your undo's and inserting new stuff! I think it would work out pretty well.

Unfortunately, bringing this project into the light of day is taking quite a lot of work. I started out doing this in Blitz3D, with a BankImage module I made, but that got to be too slow (and standard image editing takes even longer). I also have a similar tool in Allegro, with OpenGL, but I can't get Allegro to save & load images properly (the colors are shifted for some odd reason). So right now I'm stuck. If anyone would want to help, and bring this to life, it would be very much appreciated.

If that doesn't pan out, does anyone know of any good, cheap/free image or 3D art programs? I've tried Gimp but it barely makes any sense (I can't even figure out how to make a solid square!).
