DS flash cart dying...

For the past few months my flash card has been an R6Gold from neoflash, I got hold of a beta version of the card as a competition prize. It is a microSD based card with motion sensing capabilities, I would defiantly recommend these for DS homebrewers and in conjunction with my menu, has very high homebrew computability.

Anyway, the trouble with microsd slots (the clicky type) is that after a few months of being clicked tonnes of times a day, they wear out. Over the pas few days, it has been increasingly more difficult to get the sd card to click into the slot and not flick across the room.

So I decided to open it up and remove the spring from the slot, this was a little more difficult than I first thought. I was trying all sorts of things, but I finally got it out with a safety pin. In the process however, I damaged the case beyond repair, so I needed to replace it. As a fine coincidence, I have an old DSMotion card, that I was given by the creator, in return for making SensitiveDS motion compatible. That card however got butchered to fit it into my old DS slot (don't ask) so I had a fine see-through ds card with no innards, great. After attacking it with a Stanly Knife, I finally got the R6 insides into it (there is a chip sticking out so I had to cut a hole in the top of the cart) Now it is all together, the top screw holes don't line up, so I'll have to glue that, but it does fit in my DS and it does still work. The only problem I have now, is that I am a fingernail biter, which makes it very difficult to get the SD card out of the damn thing.

Well, with any luck you'll be getting your new one with the Drunken Coders winnings

I know what you mean about those springs, though.. Gotta pull that little Micro cart out every few seconds when doing complex stuff! Thankfully most of my stuff works in No$, so I only need to test the "Feel" of my games, as opposed to all the complex DLDI stuff that you do.

Maybe time to make some silly games, instead

The worst part was, in the new case, I cant write to the flash on the cart, it must not be making 100% contact or something, its failing to detect with the burner software, so I had to dig the remains of the old shell out of the bin, just so i could write the latest version of my menu to it. Must hold on to the damaged shell. OR I will add an autostart feature to the next menu, so I will auto-launch perhaps loadme.nds

also, I doubt I will finish the demo in time, I have lost motivation. Even though the best motivation is random emails from people just saying "I like your stuff", thats far better than prizes in a coders eyes.
