Gammell-isms

Did a couple studies of Stephen Gammell's illustrations from the Scary Stories books today. Not a lot to say, so here's pictures:

Oh Stephen Gammel, your artwork haunts my nightmares.

The one that freaks me out is 'Oh Susanna' - no idea why.

As far as the illustrations are concerned, "The Trouble" is probably my favorite. It reminds me of Beksinski's paintings in a way.

The story for "Harold" is my favorite writing in the books, though, mainly for the last paragraph: "When Alfred came to a rise in the path, he looked back for Thomas. He did not see him anywhere. But he did see Harold. The doll was on the roof of the hut again. As Alfred watched, Harold kneeled and stretched out a bloody skin to dry in the sun."

Living scarecrow? Check.
Skinning farmers? Check.
