Linux rocks

i have it, heh

i just installed Linux ubuntu on my laptop and removed all traces of windows on it, after i download and install the proper software to do everything i need it to do i will begin coding in BMAX on it

now i have a reason to build the switch box of mine, and it even works with my wireless card out of the box(ok out of the CD case thingy)

Yay!

Although, make sure you install the essentials first, otherwise you get "dependancy hell"s, and you'll see the attractions of Apple's OS X.

Good choice with Ubuntu. It's my favourite so far out of SUSE and Red Hat.

i am retrying to get rid of evolution mail since i will not be needingi t but it says some programs are dependant on it

if the worst comes i will re-install and try again

Ah, the joys of dependancies, already! I just settled for hidding it from the toolbars. ; - p

i probably will jsut do that and leave it alone, i am looking for the stuff i need to run BMAX on it

i have all i need with GIMP, firefox and some of the games that came with it(tron is addictive)

i am going to look for an external CD-RW drive through the wireless card slot and if i can run starcraft on ubuntu with a patch or something

well i got the BMAX IDE to work but compiling it is a different mater

i am still tinkering with the dev packages, i think i put in the wrong ones for it but still things are going pretty good

it says "/usr/bin/ld: warning: libstdc++.so.6, needed by /usr/lib/libGLU.so, may conflict with libstdc++.so.5"

what does that mean?

GLU is something to do with OpenGl I think. Try using the default Ubuntu theme, as for some reason that can sometimes mess up installations!

i am using hte default theme, can i like change the wallpaper without changing the theme?

becuase i have a really cool Legend of Zelda one i want to put on and i will make a series of penguin war games for linux and windows versions so i can convert people to linux to play the other ones before i get around to compiling them in windows

I think you just need to temporarily switch the GUI, like when using WINE Tools. Create and save your theme with a name that you can go back to - easy enough.
