Hello World

It's been a long and rocky road these past 5 years.
I've made many games, and so have many others.

     SuperDuck,
     Disco Man,
     Monkey Butt,
     Space Snake,
     Maria,
     Bozo the Happy Ape,
     and many many more.

It's been fun, and we've had a blast.

But it's time to say our final farewell.

     Wednesday Workshop : Closed

In the Workshop..
     *sob*

In the Shoutbox..
Cable vs BT, Being ill, Peanut Butter and Spinal Tape

In the Mudchat..
     Drawing
     Sketching
     Erasing
     Fixing
     Drawing
     Converting a website
and the use of a forum.

QOTW

What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?

Catch the lawn on fire during a dinner party, and forget which way to turn the spigot on - breaking it off and costing a good 80% of the grass to burn.

Valentine's day... 'nuff said!

I was out drinking with people at a work for a leaving party and we ended going to some strip clubs. The last thing I remember was having my hand between a hookers legs whilst licking her breasts. Not sure how I got home.

     Moral of the week..
Either not many people have done embarrassing things, or folk are too embarrassed to admit 'em!

Head on over to anonymously tell us..
What's the most important thing you've ever lost?

Capturing your Games

What's the best way to record your own in-game footage? I recently found Taksi, which seems ok, but doesn't do audio. So, that's pretty much just as good as everything else I've tried!
socoder.net/?topic=1958

Design : RTS

How do you expand upon the basic rules of an RTS? What can you add to them, and how can you make them better?

The Death of the WW

Wednesday Workshop's been going downhill lately, so it's time to give it a rest. What else can take it's place? Discuss.

Goto Links

Akihabara (Jayenkai)

A lovely looking engine that lets you create 8-bit styled games using HTML. Woot!
socoder.net/?link=22768

Landspeed Mower (Steve Ancell)

A news report about a lawnmower landspeed record!
socoder.net/?link=22770

Senor Gif (Spinal)

Relive the days of silly animated gifs with a whole website full of 'em!
socoder.net/?link=22772

Geocities-izer (JL235)

And if that's not old-skool enough for you, use this instead!

Socoder Games

Prison Ball

A nice game of arkanoid, all done in 3D.
There are flaming balls, and multipliers, and allsorts!

Moshboy's Browser Games

     Slumlord/Moshboy's now doing Browser games.
Normally I wouldn't have an issue with that, but I'm worried that if I begin linking to browser games...
     Well...
Some people might begin clicking those ones, and then ignoring the downloadables.

You should never ignore a downloadable.
     Stop being so lazy!!

If you'd like to keep up with Moshboy's browser games, head over to his YouTube channel.

Now accepting suggestions for our next pluckable site.

Pixel Prospector's Games

Can it be? Is it True!? Kaizen's primary site is only a month away from launch!?!

     Meanwhile..

HyperBorealis

An exploratory maze platform shooter puzzler, apparently!
Imagine a version of Metroid with a floaty drone as your player.
bit.ly/PPGames_Borealis

Absent Eden

Great looking Platform Shooter with a chunky munky robot attacking EVIL ROBOT WASPS!!!
Seems to be using DKC style pre-rendered sprites. Must've been a heck of a lot of work doing all that!
bit.ly/PPGames_Absent

Metroid:Coven

Metroid meets Alien Breed in this top-down alien shooting hybrid.
     Because there's never enough Metroid!
bit.ly/PPGames_Metroid

Funkbot 3000

A beat-tapping rhythm game, where you need to keep the FunkBot content.
Looks like someone wanted to do their own Rhythm Tengoku game!
bit.ly/PPGames_Funkbot

DarkVerse

Gorgeous looking space shooter game, that has a nice Elite/Freelancer feel to it, even in 2D.
Fly from station to station, collect credits, buy upgrades. Neat stuff.
bit.ly/PPGames_Darkverse

Curly Games!

Just the one game from CWF, this week.

Death Rally

One of those "Once commercial, now freeware" games, leaping into the 21st century from all the back in 1996!
It's a top-down, 2D Mario Kart style car shooty racing game!
bit.ly/CWF_Death

Cower's Section

BufferedGLMax2D (Cower)

A neat looking set of functions that I can actually vaguely wrap my head around! BlitzMax doesn't have Texture-Drawing, and this seems to plop them back in.
socoder.net/?showcase=22765

JONK (Cower)

I tried to understand what JSON was, and what possible use it could be, but I couldn't quite wrap my head around it. I'm no good at all this fancy new-age coding.
socoder.net/?showcase=22766

Syntax Error

Sketch Nation (Jayenkai)

Shoot-em-up Construction Kit for the iPhing age!
socoder.net/?blogs=22778

First Platformer (redmoth)

Redmoth's begun a black and white "And red!" platformer, and wants to share the really early version.
socoder.net/?blogs=22792

Bitch (JL235)

JL's having a crappy time with one of his lecterers at Uni.
socoder.net/?blogs=22799

Breaking Point (Mog)

Breakpoint, a regular Demoscene Meet-up has decided to call it a day. Everything's ending!
