Socoder -> Off Topic -> BlitzMax - OpenSource

Didn't that happen ages ago??

I think it'd be a good idea to keep "Mark's Edition" as the primary download, then the "Open Source" as a secondary option.
As long as there's a proper Mark Edition, I'll be quite happy with that. I trust Mark's coding!!

Well, taking in to consideration Bruceys version is starting to look good, and blitzmax being x86 only, it's probably wise.

I doubt it'll change much, as he already stated implementing x64 would be a mammoth task, so.... The end is pretty much here for the "blitz" brand imo, yeah, still usable, but... Mark has now officially washed his hands with it by giving it to the community!

It's been a ride though!

Well... There could be a nice result of all this opensourceness... More notably, Bruceys BMX-NG spin off!

With Mark putting it up with a massively generous license, there literally is nothing stopping Brucey releasing his version as a download and play setup.

That would mean, literally, good old Blitzmax with x64 support, iOS and ARM, all backward compatible with BlitzMax code (I think)

Yummmyyyyyyyy

Sounds good to me!

I'd really love to use BMax for handheld/mobile development.

Yeah, same here...

I've been sorter following this for a while, but, never actually got round to playing with it, I'm not really a git type of guy... And usually when I try to build anything from source, it goes horrendously wrong and before I know it, a night is gone and I'm no further forward.

So, the prospect of downloading pre-built binaries for this has pricked my ears up.

There's an old Raspberry Pi version here which I never knew existed till about 30 minutes ago:-

Brucey has said it is an older version of what he has now, so... May as well have a peek!

Well, that went surprisingly well, with MaxIDE in there as well!

Works a treat and if he says his new one is better, well... Happy times!

Very excite now me la!

P.S. For anyone trying it, whack this in the terminal before running MaxIDE:-
