Socoder -> Wednesday Workshop -> WM003 - Christmas (Already!)

Workshop Monthly #003 : Christmas
Time until Deadline

Month : 14 November to 26 December 2007
The Reason : It's still slightly early, but if we wait till next month we'll have a Xmas compo that carries on till mid January! So I figured this month made more sense.

The Challenge : Feeling festive yet?
No?
You soon will be!
Make a christmassy game!

Extra Info
I've given this month an extra couple of weeks, which means that this month's compo will close at the end of Christmas Day. Yeay! (Yeah, right! Lets see me bother sorting all that out on Xmas day!)
If you're going for a late entry, you might want to try to get it done by Christmas Eve instead, so's you can be lazy and full of Turkey and Xmas pud the next day!

Non-Christian?
Not a christian? Or basically just don't give a monkey about Xmas?
No worries, you can do something else this month.
Make a nice Snow-filled Winter "But definitely not Xmas" game, instead.

Standard Rules
The rules are pretty much the same as a standard workshop, except you have a bit longer!
This workshop closes on November 14th, 00:00 GMT.
(That's so that it closes on a Wednesday, and we can start a fresh one!)

Entries should be posted as Showcases, then noted in the forum below.

Last Time.. On "Monthly Workshop"
Last month we had a single entry.
Fluke remade my "Yot!" game, and turned it into a bit more than it was to begin with.
Fun times with Yachts!

how about a Christmas demo?

I did one at Blitzcoder a long time ago and with elves
doing backflips. Rather than Bowling with Elves.
That was a few years ago.

If you want me to host it on the server, send it to my Gmail account. That has a filesize limit of 10Mb (last I checked..) and you'll need to send a .rar file, 'cos it's a git about zips!

Or..
If it's under 2Mb, upload it using the "Your Uploads" link on the left.
The upload's not 100% perfect mind!

Any bigger than 10Mb and.. .. (seriously?!) .. We'll have to sort out alternative ways of sending it over.

Once it's hosted, post it into a plain ordinary showcase, and the job's done.

Since there are no prizes in the Workshops, there's absolutely no point in winning.
Because it's just for fun, the only fun you'll get out of a workshop is the fun of spending a bit of time, and making a nice game based on the theme. Sometimes it's challenging, sometimes it's a silly theme. Whatever that week/month's workshop is about, it's more about you sitting down at a keyboard than it ever will be about prizes.

If you'd like to place your entry for last year's DevCrunch compo into the showcase, then by all means feel free. But it isn't going into the Monthly Workshop.

This is a download link for your game. You may use that when creating your showcase, if you still wish to.

And for future reference.. If you avoid ever using a drive name within Blitz, then players can play your game from wherever they've put it on their HardDrive, not just where you want them to put it.

I did not submit the game for prizes, I submitted it for people to enjoy.

It's difficult and people should enjoy it.

I've been sick all week so I can't see mine being anywhere near ready before I go away on Sunday.

(Also, now my snowmen work, they suddenly move 2000 units along one axis for no reason!)

Disappointingly, nothing happened. Oh well, never mind.
