hiya all,

I used to have ABIT Readion 9600XT and they are very reliable. I going to buy top graphics and the brand is Gigabyte but are they are very reliable like ABIT?

cheers

I wouldn't worry. At the end of the day a card's a card. If you're looking fora Super-Spec card, you'd want a self branded NVidia or ATI one, but in most cases any cheaper card is really just a cheaper make, not necessarily a cheaper quality. Like "Tesco Brand" vs "Real Brand" it would be the 2nd generation option.. But it certainly wouldn't be a "Tesco Basic"!

I think this motherboard's a Gigabyte.. I wouldn't worry about their quality.

ATI & nVidia makes the chip, other people (like ABIT and Gigabyte) make the rest of the card. Currently I'm using one made by BFG (Geforce 7900), I've also heard that EVGA is a reliable graphics card; not to say that any other cards aren't reliable, but from my experience I know BFG and EVGA are good.

My monitor can go up to 1650 x 1050. Now which Graphics cards would I go for Geforce 8800GT 512MB or Geforce 8800GTS 512MB....both are good

I know a guy who likes to always have the top hardware. Buys the latest card each year selling his current card on eBay. He swears by NVidia as he has had several ATI cards break on him, but never a GeForce.

8800GT 512MB.

XFX is also reliable, although EVGA is better.

That's interesting -- I had an nVidia card and it broke, but now I have an ATI card which is working flawlessly.

I don't know much about hardware, but I would say increasing memory on a graphics card wouldn't hurt anything too much. Then again, if that requires the entire card to be modified, there could be the potential for many problems. Hard to say, really.

I got the graphics card today and no problem of slotting in. The hard drive was pain to move because it was close to the graphics cards but it wasnt problem. Then i had to move the wires away from the graphics cards. so everythings is set

Turn the computer on, then window then install graphics cards but it saying "No Suitable Driver for your current VGA Chip!" even thought it say "The VGA chips we support are Geforce 8800GTS".

So I had to reboot my computer then go to Bio screen to change from Onboard graphics to PCI EXPRESS Graphics card(which you know what is it) and I get the same answer.

I did put the graphics cards in right slot because I only got one X 16 PCI Express.

what I am doing wrong?

um did you install the drivers that came on the CD? If it keeps saying that you might be doing something wrong certain people have you install the drivers and then put the card in. While others tell you to put the card in and then install the drivers. Make sure you read it carefully. I lately had a wireless card I installed think I needed to put it in first and then install the drivers I did that and it couldnt find the card. I looked at the instructions and it said install drivers and then put the card in. I did that and it worked.
I hope this helps out.

Bleh.
If it keeps saying that you might be doing something wrong, it's probably humbug. Install programs can never be trusted in my opinion. Just make sure you aren't running any anti-virus programs and/or internet browsers along side your installer, and you should be fine. Also make sure to close off all your work before you start your installer, as some installers will forcefully reboot your machine without warning.

Okay I am making a wild guess here but did you get the card from somewhere besides nivida? Like from BFG or xfx or even asus or abit? My last card was from Abit they had the worst drivers ever. I download the nivida drivers and they worked much much better. I think it all depends on the people who sell the card though. Like asus might have better quality drivers then abit and so on. I would advise going to their website and downloading the latest drivers for the card and if they dont work the try nivida's drivers. I hope this helps out.

Here what I have done.

1) I went to the DEVICE MANAGER

2) I have right click on onboard graphics and click DISENBLED then UNSTALL IT

3) I went to control panel to check it then unstall the ONBOARD GRAPHICS if is still THERE!

4) I have turn off the computer

5) I have change the cable from onboard graphics to VGA Graphics but the monitor say no VGA SINGAL FooK THAT...Turn off the computer..So I had go back to onboard graphics

6) Turn on the computer and I been pressing F8 then I choose VGA mode

7) I have unstall virus software and now it is GONE - I could have disenabled it really lol

8) I try install Graphics cards for VGA but it keep saying the same things.....I for one will never never never never never buy ONBOARD graphics on whatever motherboard I have FFS SIGH

There's a difference between having a virus on your system and turning off any anti-virus programs to install a driver...

Rant aside, have you actually done what Toaster suggested and downloaded the drivers from the nVidia website? That's probably the best thing to do as you've got a single executable to run and install, and you can't really go wrong with it.

Yes I did but I cant install it because it say "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"

sigh...

Palit?!?!!? WTF I never even heard of them sounds to me you might of gotten a bad card then. Cause that shouldn't happen. If anything try going to Palit's website and getting there drivers for the card. If that doesnt work call them up and ask they probably wont give you any support at all. Which is really sucky. Thats the price you pay for ebay though.

power mousey

oh my gosh!
what a frickin hassle and pain!

I hope you install it and it works, Hotshot.
I'll stick with more advanced integrated video memory.
And perhaps a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 and FX 5500.

You can all laugh...if you like.
But those cards to me are more advanced for me.
True.
