Socoder -> Off Topic -> Hello new members..

Plenty of new members popping up, recently.
Are they Spambots, or are they real folk?
I honestly can't tell.

At first I figured the Spambots had finally figured the site out, but all the logged in folk seem to have pretty standard email addresses, so now I'm not so sure.
Either way, all the new folk haven't been posting, so, quite what they are (bot/peeps) is baffling.

If you've joined in the past few days, stick a reply below, just to alleviate my growing fears!

Thanks

And, welcome to the site, one and all!

I'd pay a visit to Google Analytics and see what keywords are bringing in traffic.

Probably the word 'spambots' in the above post, and previous references in other topics to spam users.

We could do a Google Adwords advertising campaign to bring in new people.

NO. NO ADWORDS. ADWORDS BAD.

Some good SEO on the site would be the best bet, considering it's a free alternative to throwing money at google.

Google is a respectable company.

SEO is hard and nearly impossible to do effectivly without expert advice, which costs money.

SEO: It's My Job.

Google being respectable or not, it's still wasteful to use Adwords on a Non Profit site. You pay and get traffic, but you get no revenue... infact, the new influx would probably cost you even more in bandwidth

Plus i've already offered small SEO advice to jay.

SEO is really good for a website. But this whole website is coming out of Jay's pocket already. It's reasonable to say that he is already losing a good amount of money.

Bringing in more traffic would help make this more popular. And in theory, the more popular the site the more likely advertising on it would bring in real revenue.

I believe SEO is great for every site. But at the same time I believe Google Adwords will bring in traffic a lot quicker.

I guess it's a cost over time thing.
