Socoder -> Retro Coding -> My project...

I've been busy lately, working on a remake of an Amstrad CPC classic "Mutant Monty".

I'm about half-way through making the level editor. The main game engine should be straight forward, because I can use and modify parts of the level editor, and re-use that.

I might even enter it into the Retro-Remakes compo, if I finish it in time.

I will post some screenies, once it all starts to take shape.

But if I do enter it in the compo, then you will have to wait until after December to actually play it. That's the R-R compo rules. "It has to be a game that's never been on any other site", and "Start date has to commence after September 1st"

I will keep the forum posted.

|edit| In either case, the finished game will still be Freeware. |edit|

Yeah, I've never really been keen on the "Ours! Ours! Ours!" ruling of certain compos. The "Never on other sites" thing's a little overboard, since you're already shoving a great big (ARGH) Advert over the front of your game.

But, hey, a compo's a compo, and prizes are prizes, right!!!

If they didn't have such rules, the prizepool would probably consist of a doughnut.

|edit| Oh, and sounds good. |edit|

Well... December is not too far away, so you wont have to wait long , that's if I do decide enter the compo.

I'm doing the remake, mainly to prove to myself that I can do it.

The 'ours' rule does sound a bit bad, but I think its fair to restrict people to projects that are only developed during the competition's timeline, otherwise you'd get all kinds of games that people have worked on for months or years in advance.
