a quick question here,

Does anyone know of a dvd backup software that can take a folder of x files and spread them over however many dvd it takes to fit them on, rather than having to do it by hand?
I need to drop about 33gb of files to dvds

External/secondary harddrive.. Or network sync to another pc!

Um, Winrar has a "compress to xFilesize" option. You could get that to archive to a bunch of rars, then plop them onto Dvds

I bought a Kingston 'DataTraveler 200' 128GB USB drive for $42 - 3 weeks a ago. I looked for the same drive today, and the lowest price is $275, so I won't recommend you spend that much. However you can get a 32GB USB drive for $49 here...

I believe that DVD's are too fragile to store important information, and a USB drives can plug into just about any computer and you don't need any special software.

Just my .02

Meh, if you're going for that angle, just grab a cheap external.. They're up to terrabytes for cheap prices, nowadays.

I still haven't gotten one, though!

7zip can compress and "chunk" your data into several files. I would run it overnight, it'll probably take forever. I'm guessing backup software would take just as long since it's doing a similar task as 7zip would be.

meh, did it by hand in the end. was only 8 discs. I wanted it all uncompressed as it was for my sister, she doesn't use computers much so I have no idea of her skill level.
