Socoder -> Web Development -> PlayMyCode: Tentacle thingies

Fairly new to SoCoder, so apologies upfront if I don't post in the correct place (oh, and Hello All!)

Anyway, I've been dabbling with PlayMyCode.com for a while now and figured I should post something here for anybody interested in learning from my experiences...

My latest experiment is, erm, Jelly Fish! Well, sort of - I was playing around with trigonometry and made something that looked like a swirly tentacle and I then ended up with these things:

www.playmycode.com/play/game/krakatomato/itopia

Note: Performance in Firefox is woeful I'm afraid, but runs super slick in Chrome/Safari.

Being PMC, the code is there for all and sundry to see and play around with.

Oh, and before anybody asks, I'm rendering everything to a separate image (canvas) so I can do other "interesting" things that are up my sleeve somewhere

You can find more of my PMC experiments on this blog thing: www.fivesprites.com

Any and all constructive criticism welcome!

Cheers,

Andy

Wow! Looks beautiful. Can't wait till whatever your working on is finished.

Btw you can also embed pmc title here using the [ pmc ] bb tag.

Very nice graphics!

Looks very similar to what jkrankie did:

Thanks!

I actually took inspiration from Charlie's BlobMonster tutorial here:

https://www.charliesgames.com/wordpress/?p=441

The jelly's are a bit similar to Irukandji, but in all honesty they were developed by accident! I'll leave Charlie to the gorgeous looking shooter types

I seriously need to start leaning that PMC stuff soon, it looks like fun.

It's actually really easy to get in to and learn. Few quirks, but nothing insurmountable. Joe and Seb are incredibly helpful and quick to get back to you on support issues (and feature requests!)

If you do want to pick it up, then feel free to nosey through some of my other projects (mainly in the Experiments section, apart from an Asteroids clone that's in the game section) - I tend to comment heavily to help others out!

I have to say, it's been a great distraction for me

I know I could pick it up quite quickly as do program using other lingos, the main problem is with being Bi-Polar, I tend to procrastinate a lot.
