So... That new Ouya console whatsit is gonna cost $99 in the US... And, erm, £99 in the UK... Mmmmm I’m no Steven Hawkings, but, that, $99 to pounds is £64.54, with VAT it’ll end up £77.45... Which doesnt make it £99... I was interested in getting one, but since they’ve taken the good old ’’Lets rip of the Brits’’ approach, they can stick their little wannabe console where the sun doesnt shine... Knobs!!!

Oh... Theres also a £12.45 shipping cost, so... £77.45 + £12.45 = £89.90... Still doesnt equate to £99!!! So, their gonna nab a tenner for each unit... Nice... NOT!!!!!

Everyone forgets tax! Prices in US typically exclude taxes, and you get fucked at the end, when you click the "pay" button.
UK prices typically include VAT.

I've incorporated the VAT after I converted the $99 to UK snots, also added the shipping charge, and it still doesnt make the 99 quidage they are gonna ask for it.

When I was on my honeymoon in New York, we went to best buy and bought a camera for $185, our old one broke, so, we just picked one up there. It was a Cybershot one, nice little camera. Back home, I priced up the same camera, and low and behold... It came in at... Surprise surprise... £185!!!

If I recall the exchange rate at the time, we paid £115 for the camera, you can even add VAT (15% at the time) to that and it is still miles off the £185 asking price in the UK (Which would be £132.25 inc VAT)

And it's not just electrical stuff either, I know a couple of golfers who've went to the US, took over a complete wank set of golf clubs over with them, went to a golf shop over there and paid half the price they would've over here for a top of the range set... The crap clubs get dumped, and they bring their new'uns back!

I'll probably do the exact same when I go back over there in a couple of years time... Noone is having my eyeballs and the shirt off my back if I can help it!

Yup, USA doesn't have a nations tax rate, so its never added until right at the end, usually at the same time as the shipping cost.

Still a bit too early to buy one of those Ouya boxes, I will wait a few months to see how it evolves first.

Well, I dunno the prices on other doodads over there, but here you can spend $99-$299 on a little box to let you watch Netflix on your telly sans PC.

So, at $99, a box that runs XBMC and can sideload emus for VCS, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, NES, SNES, MS, MD, PCE and MAME (among others) sounds like a reet bargain to me!

You know, if the pi foundation had secured the video drivers before releasing the hardware, we would have Android 4.x running on there and be able to do all of this months ago for £35.
