I refound this from some backups: Linkage Thought I’d lost it... Musing over if I should finish it off (Needs a little rewrite mind)

Defo a tinkerage project, thing is, you wouldn't believe it, but, when I started this, I thought... Pffft, match-3's, easy... But, what an absolute muck on they are to write, i mean, I had a basic setup up and running pretty quickly, but to get it to "portal" standard game playing wide... Foooooking 'ells fire!

The main nightmare was when fruits drop down, obviously, you don't want fruits coming in that would auto match, and thus, sitting there for half an hour while the game is auto playing. So, you have to check everything, fruits on the board, fruits falling down in different columns etc etc I thought I'd had everything sussed, then once in a blue moon, a ruddy fruit would drop in that would auto match!

The logic seemed sound, I was going through the code days on end, debug values all over the screen, logging this, logging that, rewriting this, and rewriting that... I nailed it in the end, cannot remember where the exact fix is, but, when I think back, the fix looked wrong, but it fixed it, sorta, reverse logic!

Highlight of my life when I sorted that out! lol

Well Match3 are back in vogue... go for it

(And you dont even have to worry about moving cells when the rest of the grid is moving, no one else does! XD)

Yeah, I did a Match3 for the Pandora - Frootopia and it does indeed take a lot more coding than you first think.

|edit| BTW Your game is great

Cheers chaps!

Yeah, I might have a pop I think, means delving back into Photoshop for days on end then scrapping work because it doesn't look right! Things you got to do though!

Consider asking @LorenBednar for some nice sprites.. He has loads to play about with, although their all abstract shapes..

My fruit game graphics were very abstract/minimalist -

I decided that I wanted a bold and vivid style that easily stood out and was different to other games.

I haven't had them in donkeys years! They're a bit different nowadays Jay.

And here's the packaging that I recall -

So, not inspired by those at all.

SIX PENCE.... SIX PENCE!!!!

I like that minimalist look, sort of goes with everything else out there nowadays! Nice job
