I've seen the Batman one before and it is indeed excellent., but that 64KB demo is also very impressive. A single sprite bitmap can weight in at more than that!

I'm always impressed by stuff like this - not necessarily the imagery or the music, but how much they manage to cram into such a small amount of memory (packed of course). Some of this stuff can take an age to unpack/unsquash though.

It's not "packed", per-se, but generated through complex algorithms. It's all a matter of really smartly, leanly programmed generators. I've played with the idea before, and it's pretty neat- even use generators for my game media (Genetica textures, and Texture Generator.)

I know, i'm killing the magic Look into stuff like Farbrausch's Werkkzeug toolkit for more in this- still none-the-less impressive.

Of course a lot of it is created procedurally, but the initial core IS packed/crunched/squashed whatever you want to call it - it has to be to be able to do so much on just 64K.

That doesn't take anything away from the skill involved though.
