Socoder -> Off Topic -> Removal of User

Well, it's happened again.
One member of the forum has pissed off another member of the forum enough that the second has decided to leave. Except, rather than just saying "enough's enough", they've gone through ALL of their content, and deleted it.

You all know I'm a data hoarder, but today, as I type this, SoCoder has lost over 300kb of content.

And that's raw text.
Conversation.
Interacting within our Community.

That's a fucking LOT of content.

And that pisses me off.

As of now, DNA is no longer welcome on SoCoder.
Over the past few weeks, people have been insulted, attitudes have been poked to breaking point, and for the first time ever, I actually bothered to add a "mute user" function into the site.

.. You know what, I probably should've banned DNA LONG before I had to add a "mute user" function.
I should NEVER have to add a mute user function.

And you should never feel bad about posting things to SoCoder.
We steer clear of religion and politics because those are hot-button topics, but you should never be afraid to discuss things on SoCoder. We're all here because it's SUPPOSED to be a nice friendly environment, and in future I'll try to be less lenient towards people like DNA, in a bid to make it more the place that it should be.

I apologise for any loss of sanity.

Continue.

If it helps, your server peeps should have a backup you can restore or keep for yourself I would have thought

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

*tsk*
Don't worry, I've got plenty of backups

(How else could I be so specific about how much data's missing!!?)

It's up to Kuron to decide whether I do or don't resurrect it. I'm not going to undo (very very very very quickly!) what must've took him sodding hours to do!!

Although I'm generally pretty quiet on forums (I'm a boring old twat at the best of times) I do believe you did what was right here.

It's bad enough trying to put up with the general bad behaviour on Twitter without it appearing on a friendly forum such as SoCoder.

I love SoCoder for what it is, and having people voice their unwanted opinions on others in such a way is down right rude. Pissing people off to the extent that they feel that they have to leave is unacceptable.

Was Kuron's departure related to the Tim Cook thread, or did I miss some other dna-induced event?.

It's a real shame that it came to this

I must have missed something...

I didn't get the whole DNA issue but perhaps I just wasn't paying attention and it wasn't personal to me, but I've left other forums myself for lesser reasons - mainly the cunts that run the place thinking they were Gods, but I understand sometimes you just have to make a stand.

Really glad to hear that you'll be sticking around now though. Good luck with the store opening.

I'll do as instructed, and leave the Kuron posts alone!
A shame that a lot of threads now have odd missing bits, but I guess that's just the way it is.

As for "this isn't the proper place for it"... Of course it's the proper place!
Twitter and Facebook are too public, with everything and anything being retweeted and shared.
But SoCoder's different.
It's a little social gathering of similarly grumpy coders, and we're all part of it's family.
I don't want anyone to ever feel like they can't discuss things here. From coding to playing, from health to love, and everything inbetween.

This is our clubhouse, and you should feel free to chat as you would in your own home..
...

I'm just glad you stayed.

And, again, I apologise to all that i didn't feel comfortable dealing with DNA any sooner. I have an uncanny knack of seeing the good in people. .. Sometimes, it doesn't work out very well.. :/

Our Tesco opened a couple of weeks ago, but all we got given were a couple of those Bag-For-Life bags, and a few coupons.
.. True, we didn't actually get there until late on in the afternoon, but .. still.. :\
Nice big store, though. Mmmm!

Yeah... Nowt worse when stuff goes titties up... I like it here too... I don't do much coding nowadays, too knackered... But, it reminds me of the blitzcoder days (happy times) and everyone of you good'uns so I like to pop in!
