Accident waiting to happen I reckon! Linkage

*shrugs* They've been going without issue for an alarming amount of time!! I imagine if there's any issues at all, it'll be human drivers smashing into "The stupid robot car!" and not the other way around..

As soon as there's millions more of those things, you watch the accident stats go up. Those things were "programmed by humans", trust me, there will be bugz!

Google cars have been driving themselves for nearly 6 years and only experienced 11 accidents...

All 11 accidents were minor and none were the self-driving car’s fault.

You're forgetting a key point here, there's only a small number of those things driving around at the moment. Most real drivers are capapble of making decisions that a robot could never make with current AI technology.

Aah, but on the flipside, the robot driver isn't irrational, and follows extremely strict rules, so 95% of those "events" are less likely to occur.

Yep. Everyday on the road I see some idiot do something that he probably didn't realise he'd done due to lack of due care and attention.

Physical and mental health conditions (inluding, hunger, boredom, thirst, tiredness etc.) can and do affect a driver's ability to drive safely. A computer controlled car is immune to these conditions. Yes bugs in software can, do and will happen, but over time these will diminish and the number of human drivers will too to a significant degree(probably not in our lifetime though), so accidents will become fewer and fewer.

It will happen eventually - very slowly at first due to high prices and safety concerns. But, like all tech, the prices will come down to consumer levels and concerns will reduce as people see, hear and read about how the robo-cars perform.

I have both physical and mental conditions, and yet I still drive safe.

Yeah, but you're probably aware that things can, and DO go wrong, so are always cautious. Not everyone is.. Once you let your guard down, a lot of bad shit happens!!

Well in that case put me in a droid suit and call me Kryten!
